BK, That is a stunning hat! Are there more pictures of said hat posted on the lounge? I'm also fascinated by the rest of your outfit. The topcoat and tie look very nice. Have you posted in the What are You Wearing Today thread? I know this is a bit :offtopic: but I'd like to see a full-body shot...
Matt, I'm glad to read that the seller has been amenable to cancelling the transaction. Hopefully they'll take your advice if they relsit the hat one more time.
I agree, on both counts. I love the composition of that picture with the buildings, greenery, and fallen leaves in the background.
Nevertheless, we must continue to strive for the victory is in the attempt and, if we fail, we fail valiantly. Someone famous must have said that or something...
The Fellowship of the Flagship
Douglas, Thanks for posting pictures of your "Minty" Beauty. I especially like the profile shot where we see the top and bottom stitching on the ribbon and the square-cut ends of the bow. The Flagship has nice details and wonderful proportions.
You are the man!
That's two for two today, Matt! Clean, stretch, and reblock for $8.00 and within walking distance; it doesn't get better than that! Great hat! :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap
Try this on your own hat. It works.
Gentlemen, I have posted this before but here it is again.
As noted by Baron Kurtz on more than one occasion, the opening of a hat is an ellipse, not a perfect circle. In order to determine the circumference of an ellispse you need two things: the length of...
It depends on the width of the ribbon. This works for me.
If the bow of the ribbon is wide enough, insert the nut of the screwback beneath the wrap in the center of the bow. Then push the screw on the back of the pin through the wrap so it engages the nut. Then turn the pin to tighten.
That certainly is a wonderful transformation. I like the color and the coordinating ribbon. Is the ribbon post-refurbishment a new, wider ribbon? A striking hat.
Thanks, Mr. P. If we ever have an opportunity for lunch, I'll wear it.
Douglas, I posted this Flagship in the Flagship thread and there was reference to one you have. Unfortunately, there isn't a picture. Is it possible for you to post a picture in that thread? There are only a few there but...
Cavanagh
MOO! Michaelshane, you definitely have that cattleman thing going on.
Today it's a Cavanagh homburg in chocolate brown repurposed as a short-brim fedora. 2 1/4' bound brim, 23 ligne oxblood ribbon, 5 1/2" open crown.
This one's for gtdean.
and this one's for bolthead.
I need to visit here more often
Kiltie, That OR is OUTSTANDING! :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap
nickn5, Nice OR. Looking forward to seeing it on your noggin. I
Portolan and Michaelshane, Nice OR's, gentlemen. Looking forward to seeing what you do with them.
Here's another ad, featuring the Whippet and the Flagship, from 1947
Lefty, All the information I have states that Stetson began their National Branding Campaign in 1939 and that the campaign featured one hat each year. It also states that they featured the Flagship in 1946. However, the...
