I just snagged this $35.00 BIN Montecristi still in the box.

Garrett, That's a terrific box of hats. The 1st Mossant looks very good. The 2nd Mossant should clean up into a nice fedora...
Recorded History
This would be an ideal spot to place some information about the hat. For a new hat, this could be a short description. You could even add a snapshot of yourself wearing the hat.
"G'day, This glen grey Akubra Campdraft was received by Carter from Hats Direct, Australia, on...
The work on my Nostalgia was done byJimmy Pierce. He is located in Glen Rose, TX and is a vendor on the FL. He makes new hats as well as doing refurbishment and restorations. He has done many hats for me.
Brings the phrase "Don't be givin' me no static" to mind. An electrifying picture. Love that Champ. Great picture.
Bob, You're a ...vision (?) in black and silver. Well, sorta. Great hat from the Major.
J.T. You just gotta' love a hat with a puggaree. It's time for an East Texas safari...
Another superb picture. If you were wearing a trenchcoat and scarf, you could be be channeling Walter Kovacs (without his mask) from the Watchmen.
What are the wonderful images in the windows behind you?
I wonder why HATCO didn't do this. The felt quality isn't their best but a bound edge and coordinated ribbon make a huge difference in the look of the hat. The caribou/grey is such an adaptable color that you can easily achieve a different look just by changing the color of the binding and the...
A Cottage Industry.
This is an excellent idea.
I buy Harris Tweed jackets at Thrift Stores for the buttons, pockets, etc. so I can have vests/waistcoats made from them. Using the additional material for flatcaps or 8-panel caps would be a way to use the additional material.
It wouldn't be...
The color is called Caribou by HATCO. Looks like mid-grey to me. Looks good with silver binding and ribbon. Much better than the raw edge and black ribbon in it's original incarnation.
Garrett, The hat is at Jimmy Pierce's shop having the sweatband resewn. I'll post pictures when I get it back.
BTW, I showed the hat to Joe Peters at Peter Bros. Hats in Ft. Worth yesterday. Both he and Jimmy date the hat to the late 20's or early 30's based on the liner.
I don't believe anyone has mentioned Miller Hats in Hosuton, TX. The have four pages of Panamas on their website and many other selections in the straw hat category.

2nd Conversion
Here's my caribou Stetson Nostalgia in it's original conversion to a bound edge and two-color ribbon.
I wasn't crazy about the ribbon so here it is without the black. The hat has also been repounced.
I think this is much better as the proportions of the hat are more...
UWSCowboy, That is actually a good look for you. It looks like it may be a slight bit wide on the sides. Are you a long oval? It looks like a nice hat from here.
I have to ask, Does UWS stand for Upper West Side?
You're putting an outstanding collection together!
SMOKIN'! Not only is that sage green Sovereign a beauty, it's a mode edge Stetson Twenty! You are the man! :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap
Garrett, The quality designation on the better of my two is Beaver Deluxe. The liner is sewn in and there is a protector (not oilskin) over the logo in the crown. The felt feels most like a Borsalino Alessandria I have that dates to the 1930's. The felt has a suede-like feel. I believe this is...
