Ive had the standard LHB in cordovan heavy fqhh for a few yaers now. Your'e going to love yours more and more with age. The leather is phenomenal as it gets broken in.
I have that exact hat. Its even stamped "Marlboro" on the sweat. Paid $40 @ an antique store. Mine is actually a decent felt. Ive converted it seveal times and it ended up as an Open Roads style fedora. Its been blocked so many times that it makes a great rain hat because it doesn't shrink much...
I have 4 Akubras and love em, 60s and 61s. You won't have a problem with a 61 if you're a true 7-1/2. I alway prefer to shrink one down if needed rather than stretch it and risk making the brim wonky.
I ordered a 60 and it was fine. They do tighten up to your head comfortably so a little loose is not a concern. I believe Hats Direct just has standard hats on the shelf and makes an attempt to stretch it to a long oval. I reblocked mine anyway after some rough wear since I have several plastic...
Akubra has the best copy IMHO in the form of the Camp Draft. $160 new from Hats Direct of Australia. Everything Austrailian also carries them but the wait is longer. Im a 7-1/2 LO. I have 3 various era Open Roads and the Camp Draft measures up.
Hello. I have a question for you panama aficionados. I was just gifted a David Morgan panama fedora woven from toquilla fiber. Its an inexpensive had with a very low weave count. How shapable is this hat? Im used to working with fur felt so this is new to me. Is this fiber safe to steam, wet and...
I'm selling a couple of jackets I never wear since I've entered the world of FQHH. The first is a Woolrich macinaw type jacket. Its a size 42 so its a little snug on me. Sleeves are 22-1/2 from the shoulder and have knits storm cuffs. Pit to pit is 24" and back length from base of the collar...
Last is an I don't know what. I call it the Grapes of Wrath hat since it is fashioned after the hats the deputies wore in that film. Its a thin yet firm but flexible felt. The hat has no liner or sweat. With a sweat it would be a 7-3/8. Brim 3-1/2 and open crown at 5-3/4. Asking $40. Postage on you.
