I just noticed this on my Bootlegger:
On one side, there's a notch eaten out of the strap, and on the other side, it looks like the strap was cut short, at an angle, and the stitching has begun to fray.
I don't plan on doing anything about it unless it gets worse, but I'm wondering if this...

Does anyone in the US import Thedi apart from Thurston Bros?
I am curious about their jackets. For some reason Thurston only seem to carry Thedi's cafe models, and not their more interesting (to me) styles such as:
Recent discussion in Outerwear had me looking through my Cal-Leather jackets, and I've decided to put this one up for sale. The label is missing from it, but is definitely, unmistakably a Cal-Leather jacket.
Pit-pit: 24.5"
Sleeve, shoulder-to-cuff: 28"

It works great for snow shoveling/blowing. The hood, zipped up, really kept the wind and powder out of my face. Usually I get a lot of fine spray blowing back into my face from the snow blower, no matter which direction I aim it, it always seems to come back at me. But with the hood up, it...
You can't remember how many jackets you own.
You have a spreadsheet so you can keep track of them.
The spreadsheet was necessary to keep you from buying duplicates of the same model.
It didn't stop you from buying duplicates, but now it helps keep track of minor variations across different...
Watching this on eBay, but I think I'm going to pass on it. I have too many jackets as it is, several are better than this one, and I expect this will end up going for more than I'd want to pay for it. But I'm curious what it is! Can anyone identify the maker/model?

Really nice heavy leather biker jacket. Removable liner included; removable lining has a large tear along seam that should be repaired, not a difficult repair. Or can be worn without it.

This is a vintage tan suede goatskin leather jacket, made in Sweden by C.O. Ericson. Inner label says "getskinn" which is "goatskin" in Swedish.
The jacket has two small outside pockets, two inside pockets. Lining is a dark green satin-like material, probably rayon. Size is marked 36...
Amazing, true vintage leather men's trench coat in dark brown. I believe the maker to be Teichert, a german company. The style dates to the WWII era, but whether it is pre or postwar, I cannot be certain, as the tag is missing from the inside of the jacket, but I found photos of an identical...
Buco action back black leather motorcycle jacket. $500 $400

If you Google "how to measure leather thickness" you will find a lot of articles about the converting ounces to millimeters. That's not what I'm looking for.
I'm trying to find out *how* the actual measurement is taken.
I assume with calipers? But given that leather is somewhat compressible...
My discretionary budget is tapped out for the time being, but I figured that this might be of interest to someone. Interesting variation on the traditional asymmetrical biker jacket:

So this came up in the jacket-alikes thread that I started... as has been pointed out, "someone" just got the deal of a lifetime. Well, that was me. I just picked this up on eBay for a very good price.
I'm a little baffled by the auction's bid history. As of 2 days before, the price was at...
I've noticed that a few makers make jackets that are very similar to each other.
I expect that this is not without controversy, and my intent in creating this thread is NOT to incite any wars about who's ripping off who, or who's better made, looks better, or whatever. I expect this will...
