Having recently been looking at a thread of started by Thor about the correct A2 fit of course its all in what we think suits us best.
Personally I prefer a more short fit.
Thankfully my body is not yet quite so far gone to make it unacceptable !!
I have tried to take a few pictures of...
A parcel arrived from John Chapman of Goodwear 10 days ago of the Goodwear A2 Monarch.
I took a couple of pictures out in the sunshine on day 1 to show that wonderful russett colour.

The consortium have already got in there and substituted the real one for a clever copy and hope no one will spot the difference.
Even now it is being unpicked stitch by stitch by a team of virgin Indian and Chinese, girls, only with their pre adult teeth to prevent any hand damage to allow...
Ha ha
Lets hope you are a big fat Norwegian like those big Americans !!
At least then you can feel happy that you have used up a lot more material
Seriously if you were not being charged for VAT the jackets would be cheaper and you actually might buy more.
Both Aero and Eastman could...
Not wishing to upset anyone, but the average size tends to be 2 or 3 sizes larger for the USA than any other country, therefore uses a good few feet more leather, which is another price balancing factor.
Thank you, thank you my dear fat American cousins for once again saving us poor Brits...
A little olive oil and gentle working in with your fingers will age that name tag more in keeping with the knit colour if you want a less contrasting view to the jacket.
Hopefully its not full of black marker pen !!!!
Looking good

ELC - Eastman is an English based company. Based in Devon so closer to you than Scotland
Check their website at the very bottom for their address and like Aero you can arrange a visit

Would agree there.
For A2's Goodwear are head and shoulders above the rest.
Both Eastman and Aero have a jacket to suit most customers re price and depending on the brief - quality, accuracy, confortable fit, value for money, etc offer good alternatives
For the A1 pattern I would still...
The offer of advise can be taken in different ways.
You throw back comments that you suggest comes over as snobbery at someone else's choice.
It might be argued that the offended person (in your eyes) comes across in exactly the same way.
I know I am not alone in this line of thought.
As I said...
That was not my intension.
The poster stated that a Aero would be a better jacket than this other companies A1 both in design and incredible price.
I agree with that statement and I just offered two more choices.
I did not in this posting go against Aero and their version of the A1.
Get off...
I like Alain de Cadeanet.
Very good driver.
Excellent presenter
But knows damn all about A1 jackets.
If that's your benchmark think again
Aero A1's are just OK .
Eastman and Goodwear are so far ahead in design, quality and accuracy.
In racing car talk these two have just lapped Aero...
Harris,
Everyone is so different that its hat you feel comfortable with.
The A1 for me is like wearing a waistcoat rather than a jacket so it fits close but with a little room to breathe.
The capeskin is so light to wear so fit close to your body perhaps more so than a formal jacket.
Again...
The jacket sizing has not changed since I got it despite wearing it /playing with it under all conditions.
A few pictures to show what it looks like although its had another good winter's wear since then
This is lying on snow at the beginning of this year !!
The sleeves has just creased...
Harris
I wear a size 40 in A2's but wear a size 38 in the Eastman A1
For info the sizes are
Pit to Pit 21.5"
Sleeve (including knits) 25"
Front 22.5
Back length (including knits)...
If you collect jackets you have a illness - " Jacket Sickness " and are always buying and selling (and sometimes re buying !!!) jackets as we ever try and find the
"mystical perfect jacket".
The Dubow is a great jacket and as said earlier the best fitting for me A2 I have ever worn.
We let them...
Ian,
As I understood when I got mine the short is half an inch less and long is an inch more
I had a standard size A1 sent to me by Eastman to try on and sent it back to have the short version and yep it was half an inch less in length when it arrived

Forgot to add that the pictures on the B17 Flying Fortress were taken in July 2010
That was a magical time.
Climbing on board ...
I also did a B24 Liberator ride at the same time so your jacket is a true "WW2 plane veteran !!
I hope you have fun wearing it.
Alan
Hi
Its my old jacket that I sold last year to a German collector.
I put the name tag on it (it's my name) and its probably the best fitting (for me) A2 I have ever had.
If you ever replace the tag please let me know as I have a jacket to add it on to
Supposedly it was a gift to a Band...
