my office and desk are getting smaller! time to re-arrange yet again as I found a great piece to add to my 1940s vintage USAAF office! An index card file cabinet... and not just any... this one is marked on the bottom (albeit a bit faded and worn) Property Air Force United States Army so it fits...
yes, its was an interesting design development that helped keep the top of the pen cap lowered deep into the pocket and not be seen. the pocket flap wouldn't bunch up and would help cover the exposed part of the clip essentially hiding the pen altogether. I don't think too many pen companies...
this is my early 1940s Sheaffer Valiant white dot with Military Clip.
In the 1940s this particular pen sold for $10.00 which was quite a lot to spend on a pen for the time and is equivalent to around $140 in todays money. (I purchased this one last year for $140 so there you go :D ) Military...

instead of starting a new thread I thought I would just insert here as I found the post above very interesting as I started to put together my own footlocker for fun. mine is Army air Forces centric as that is the main scope of my collecting. I spent time trying to find original items for it...
Thanks Hurricane Jack! I'll check it out! I added this nice gold trimmed Army Air Forces glass to my collection recently... usually the gold trim is scratched or eroding away but this one is practically NOS
