The lining tearing is pretty normal after 9 years of continues use .The leather seams rub on the lining.
The leather on the back looks weird. Can you post more pictures form further away?
I don't mean that they restrict movement.I mean that the sleeves hug more the back of your arms .
I want to understand the principals of different patterns .
I think low and high arm holes have a certain "formula" that should not be mixed together if that makes sense .
Also one more thing I noticed is the sleeve attachment to the body .Five star angles them very low like on a fabric suit jacket and other make them almost in line with the shoulder "slope" .
Doesn't that also prohibit movement?
Low armholes create space for your bicep and elbow but the low...
The curves are more elegant and the leather drapes much better .That is also one downside of their leathers they are kind of rubbery in a sense that they spring back to their original form . They also make the cuffs way too thick which flares them out .
At the end of the day their patterns and...
So I have a feeling that you set yourself up for failure if you don't let their pattern makers do their job. Don't require measurements between the arm opening and cuff . Otherwise they will just connect the dots you gave them under the premise of made to customers specifications.
Arm opening...
My first five star a few years ago.
Curved sleeves but I didn't add too many specifications.12cm cuff 25cm arm opening.Ended up with 13-13.5cm cuff but I have full range of motion.
I think this is also why replications based on measurements never really fitted the same because you didn't have 1,5-2 inches of room for your elbow.
I can dissect a five star to prove my straight line theory.
Their shearling jackets do have this curve
What I am going to do with this dry rotted thing is a question that I have to answer myself later .I hope I can attach a new lining and repair the ripped leather lol
So today I took apart a vanson A2 Style Jacket .Look at the sleeve pattern .I think nobody has had "evidence" of the curve in patterns as of now .As a bad leather worker I can see why jackets with a a 3 piece sleeves designs (partition at the underarm ) have more range of motion .The partition...
Did they ever made a leather version of the pea coat .I recently acquired a schott leather peacoat and was wondering if they are a real thing like the U-Boot coats from Germany
I mean oil pull up leather should be able to stretch quite well in comparison to the steerhide so you should be fine.
Has anyone experience with that hide ?
I want to try the dark brown goat or the pull up horse hide .
Does the horsehide darken when wet ?
What about a brand like schott aren't they relatively international since they are quite well known?
In russia maybe look for noble house leather. They have retailers there that stock their stuff .Even special models that you normally get in store only .You can try it out and send it back ...
You may want to try out a different maker if you want alterations done .Five star leather will do any alterations you want .You could also go with Simmons built but they are even more controversial than five star leather.
I don't recommend zipped hand warmer pockets if you have sensitive skin...
Interesting to see how this thread progressed lately.
Five star is definitely not the average Pakistani leather jacket company in my opinion having dealt with two factorys in their area .
I can post pictures of the Irvin jacket that I got made for 300$ .
cowhide strips . Sheep leather and faux...
