My father was optimistic and had faith in progress. We'd watch The Jetsons together when I was a kid and he didn't laugh at me when I said I that I wanted to be the boy in the series (can't remember what he was called but funnily enough I remember that their robot (depicted above in an earlier...
Yeah, tell me about it! I spent my childhood going over the rosy future as forecast in the pages of Dad's National Geographic Magazine and thinking what a great future I was going to have. Still waiting for all those vacations to the moon that I was going to take or racing down a futuristic...
Doesn't look like a knife, Zombie or otherwise. Looks more like a Parang or Bolo machete used for clearing thick undergrowth. The US military used something similar as a direct result of having these machetes used against them in the Spanish - American War.
I first saw the film Things to Come in the late 1980s and did like the special effects (the fleet of huge airships, for example, always reminded me of the old Flash Gordon serials) though the film's message was a bit airy - fairy for me. But on every reviewing of the film since I am always...

Thank you. That location is a bit like the center of a bowl, with the higher mountains of the Highlands acting as the rim. I thus know that when it has snowed at higher levels I am certain to find the surrounding peaks white while the lower levels are free from snow (even though that location...
Watched Rambo: First Blood (1982) again, the only Rambo film actually worth watching if one is frank.
Sylvester Stallone is a sympathetic character in this film as a Vietnam SF vet and Brian Dennehy does a good job as the Sheriff just doing his job. It basically is a modern day twist to the old...
Nice Cooper jacket, Michael. That collar looks warm and the jacket goes well with that army sweater. Goes to show, you don't need a fancy and expensive leather jacket to look good.
I think that some of the comments above reflect the reason many people buy expensive watches, namely that they can afford to do so. It isn't about the watch itself as much as the public statement of having the money to own one or more.
For me, I could not even afford a pre-used Omega or Rolex...
Hope you enjoy the movie.
Keep an eye out for a funny moment right at the very end where Palance is crawling along a duckboard right on the waterfront and slips, ending up with his face getting a wash in Lake Borgne. Guess it was a little accident that they kept in the final movie.
