Thanks! If I'm not mistaken, you've had some really high-end jackets from other Japanese makers. How do you feel the DH stacks up? I haven't seen or handled anything from the likes of, say, Freewheelers, RMC or Rainbow Country.
Thanks!
Oops, that reminds me, I meant to mention the fit. This is tagged a size 40. I'm right between 38 and 40 with a 39" actual chest measurement. This fits more or less like a 38, in my opinion. I'd love to have tried a 42, but as it was secondhand that wasn't an option.
Thought I'd add my take on Double Helix here. I picked up this Hugging the Curve jacket about a year ago secondhand for a great price, and it's been my favorite ever since. It's my first and only Japanese leather jacket.
Good Stuff:
The leather. IMO the perfect balance… durable but...
Does this one have the elephant sleeves issue? I had to pass on one I tried on as it looked ridiculous, but I've seen plenty of fit pics of these that look great…
Recent pickup: a 90's era cross zip from BOY London. Best graining I've ever had in hand. Unfortunately, though it's tagged size 40, the back length is a ridiculous 55cm / 21.5"
Another recent pickup: this one is a Lee 101J made of some rather thick and characterful lambskin… feels more like sheep. Tagged large, but the shoulders and arms fit like a 40, and the chest and waist fit like a 38.
Picked up this Superdry Premium suede type III for a song. Nothing super high quality or particularly rugged, but it has a nice lining and in my opinion the fit is not bad at all. My only complaint is the seams at mid-arm.

Fit check on this Simmons Bilt. It's a 38, though I generally wear a 40. Got a great deal on it, basically unworn. Half belt in appaloosa brown horsehide, made by Moira.
