This is not an ideal time to inaugurate a business making 'luxuries': the 'wealth effect' feeling has gone into hibernation. I hope there are enough pockets still deep enough to make this work. How are Harley sales holding up compared to a few years ago?
OJ another killer juice
Don't forget that a huge percentage of the U S of A was not electrified until well after WW2. My mother (90) grew up in SW Ohio and recalls that they did not get "City electricity" until the '40's. So they were only in danger from their generator or an oil lamp fire.
It's Twelve O'Clock Somewhere
I still like it too and admit its faults. It was part of a great era of WW2 shows like Combat and The Gallant Men and Rat Patrol.
WWII Impressions
My quibbles with WWII Impressions are not delivery. I have had enough experience with them to respect their basic honesty but I share your frustration on the 'customer service' end. I have no idea of the extent of their operations, ie, staffing, full-time or part-time...
Super bad
Gods and Generals: What a disappointment indeed! I wanted to hurt Ted Turner. What a missed opportunity.
And re Pearl Harbor, about 20 minutes of decent film inside a turkey.
Interiors was self indulgent, wasn't it? I wonder if he'd take a mulligan on that one today. So many wonderful movies over so many years. "Sleeper"; "Midnight Summer's Sex Comedy", Broadway Danny Rose, "Purple Rose of Cairo"; "What You Always Wanted to Know About Sex". Even "Zelig" holds up...
Spare Changeling
Ditto. We saw this Saturday and it was much better than the reviews had prepared us to think. The clothes and cars were wonderful. What a dreadful and mostly true (Google it and you'll get a lot of info) story.
Anyone catch Clint Eastwood wrote the music too? Not bad at all.
WW2 Style
I have read many opinions that the WW2 era 'pinks and greens' were the most attractive uniforms ever worn by the modern US Army. I would agree, compared to what followed, perhaps not what preceeded.
Glad to see Rollin's At The Front plugged above. Fine quality clothing sold by a...
Magnoli
These items are not inexpensive, but I ask you, where else will you find real silk ties EXACTLY duplicating The Dark Knight Joker tie and the Rick Deckard Blade Runner tie? I looked for the latter for years before stumbling onto Magnoli. I have since bought a Joker vest and it's very...
vintage haircut
How about a brush cut, 'en brosse' for a mid 20th Century, immediately post war look? And, it's easy to maintain! Your barber would be glad to see you every two weeks. (Yes, I mentioned 'barber'. Has there been a thread on 'barber' vs 'stylist'?)
