Not super light weight but not very heavy either. Much lighter than Langlitz medium cow or Vanson Competition weight, for sure. Its closer in weight to a modern Schott Horsehide (as in the recent production 613). The quilted lining is still pretty warm, in the limited use I've had with it.
As...
Another final price drop - $150 plus shipping. If it doesn't sell, I'll consider it fate telling me to eat better and do some sit-ups...meanwhile, I replaced the fabric laces at the sides with some tan leather lacing. Much cooler than the fabric lace and given the brass Scovill zippers, it...
Due to medical bills, etc. I'm in "sell only" mode right now, but dang, I wanted this one... :) Congrats to the new owner and thank you for removing the temptation...
Here's the album again: https://www.flickr.com/photos/44195255@N04/albums/72157709125151402/with/48951635673/
Basically as the added pics show, there are
two extremely tiny slits in the lining at the edge of one sleeve cuff.
The aforementioned normal wear to the edges of the neck and cuff...
Thanks Jon! Yes, I found a 42 and it is really snug on me right now as I have not been exercising as much as I should be (some injuries to deal with the past several months), but the length is right. I once owned a 60s era Schott one star (613?) size 42, and it looked and fit just like that one...
I will add a few more pics tonight, I had photos showing some wear to the edges of the inner lining that have vanished from Flickr for some mysterious reason. Good thing I checked that album link!
Final Price drop to $350, I guess if it doesn't sell I'm just gonna live with the too-long sleeves...
I replaced the fabric laces in the side vents with some black leather laces I found - looks much better that way.
Please let me know if any issues viewing pics - I know Flickr is often wonky.
Fwiw - best bet is to go by my measurements above, but in my experience, Excelled double riders like this one tend to be a tad roomier than say, a Schott of the same style and vintage in the same size. So this jacket would be - imo - a 'roomy' 42. I wear size 43 suits when I can find them, hence...
Thank you! Honestly, if I bought a jacket like this and the seller called it "Mint," the little white mark under the arm wouldn't bother me, but the sleeve scuff - tiny as it is - would, just on principle. Just semantics, I guess, but it would make "mint" more meaningful if we reserved it for...
Here is a vintage Motorcycle Jacket by Excelled, in near-mint condition. Labeled size 42 and fits pretty true to that imo.
I say ‘near mint’ because even though it looks like it may never have been worn, I scrutinized it in bright lighting and found two extremely minor marks (please see...
