First time worn today this lovely black XXX Marathon.
As to age, my first thought was 60's, but there's a $7.95 tag under the sweat. There's no doubt some beaver in this (the finish is superb), so I'm guessing a price tag like that probably makes it a veteran of the...

Thanks MikeBravo - but go ahead and make a time that suits everyone. I think I'm staying in Little Bourke and my day is flexible. I won't, however, be travelling with any vintage gear and minimal hats. So I'll be in my civvies.
It's the country market, here and in the USA, that's kept Akubra prospering and still in the hands of the family that founded it back in the 1870's. There's always need for a working hat there in the bush - and Stetson and Akubra meet that need better than most.
Stetson Whippet

The pic is pretty close to the actual colour - a light tan with copper band.
It's a Dobbs 15 'Gay Blade'. This one dates to the early 50's but the style dates from the 40's.
