I have two of Johnnyphi's hats, UH34D, and I'm very impressed with both of them. The Adams are light weight hats. The Stetsons are classics indeed. My Adam was prebashed to a teardrop and my Stetson came open crowned. The Stetson is a dream.
Congratulations, Bingles. I too have ordered my first custom beaver fedora, from Art Fawcett. Mine should be ready at about the same time yours is. I know your excitement!
Got any pictures of that diamond, Bart? I'm interested.
How was Batman? We haven't seen it yet.
Here's a question I've been meaning to ask of the hat historians here. What creases would have been popular in the 1940's when these hats were made (but never sold, thank you very much!)?
Welcome back, Johnnyphi. Hope you had a relaxing break. Im lovin my latest. It was sitting outside my door when we got back from our little break. Timing couldn't have been better, and the hat.....WOW!:eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap
Yes, NB, you are correct, of course. Those are the pics I remember seeing. Thank you for showing them to me again. Yours may have been the first work of Art I saw on the Fedora Lounge, maybe even before I joined. That hat is really an eye full. I like it.
Thanks for the insight, JtL. I'm going to check my Executive again. Again, very nice lids, and I really appreciate the education you have to offer.
Thanks, Bart. This hat is absolutely amazing. I have only dry bashed it, no water, no steam, no nothing. It molds and stays that way....soft as butter.
Bart, I measured the crown at 6 inches. I love the high crown because I can put a deep crease in it and it will still stay off my head. Today, I put a center dent in it and it looked very cool...had a bit of reverse taper to it with that dent. I believe I like the diamond crease though.
NB, if my memory serves me, that hat is not a new one. I believe I have seen it before, but it's nice to see it again, especially now since Art and I have started the process of getting one of his hats for me to wear. Thanks for the pics again.
Your hat seems to be very similar to what I am...
Thanks, IBP. I'm really enjoying the Stetson. I haven't worn it outside because it's hotter than blazes here now, but I'm having a great time bashing and rebashing it. I'm amazed at how easy it is to work with, and I really like the idea of having this little piece of history.
I saw your Art...
That 7 3/8 may not be so good. There seems to be a lot of 7 3/8 on board here competing for the same hats.
Just kidding. Keep posting and you should be all ready to bid in the next round of Johnnyphi hat auctions. They should be coming up soon.
We're all weak, DrS. ;) ;) I have a Fed Deluxe IV in heritage fawn, I think it's called, and I like the color. It's pretty similar to the tawny fawn of the Fed IV. I like it. I also have a moonstone Stylemaster that I like.
I have also been looking at two more Akubras for my collection, a...
We flew. We like to get there and spend as much time as we can there. We've been going to Freeport for ten years and have looked at short term rentals there for three or four months in an attempt to plan for retirement if that ever finally arrives. We really like it there and have stayed at the...
Thank you, gentlemen. I'm really overwhelmed with how nice this hat is. It's older than I am, and it's in better shape.
Keep posting, UH. A few "nice hats" here and a few questions there and you'll have 15 posts in no time.
I posted this new hat over at the Johnnyphi Hat Club, but I thought I'd put up a couple of pics here too. I can think of no word but AMAZING for this hat. I dry bashed it to a diamond and it was so soft I just couldn't believe it. WOW!
It's a Royal Stetson, my first Stetson...
