Problem with M1911A1 and clones
I hope someone can help me with a problem I've been having lately.
[Btw, I have only been able to complete limited research on my own as my work-computer blocks the majority of firearm related web sites.]
I have a SA M1911A1 which I've owned for maybe a...
Isn't this the rub! I've found myself (this morning for example) with the same concerns because I just don't have the time to manage 400 worries at once. lol
For instance, a quick in-out at the grocery store should be no problem. Oh, you fool. Apparently the grocery stores in Des Moines...
Excellent advice Diamondback! I've been in touch with professional smiths around IA and no one wants to touch the thing (IA is NOT class III). I'm still waiting to hear back from my man on the inside about the finer points. For instance, I'm not certain yet if this was built semi, or if this...
I tend to wear a fedora when it's most useful. I've stopped wearing them in the summer (as Iowa summers are FAR FAR too hot) and I've stepped back from most winter wear as well.
I typically wear them Spring and Fall, with some of the in between, and I usually only wear one if I have to wear a...
God willing, I may be coming into possession of a M4 converted to civi status (originally military w/auto selector, collapsable stock, 16" barrel, tac-rail, etc. with switch removed and changed to semi/safety switch). I won't say how much I'm paying, as all details aren't out yet, although I'm...
Please forgive me if I've missed this...
Does anyone here own a punt gun? And could someone expand on these weapons?
I've read quite a bit on wiki and google, but I'm wondering if anyone here has first hand or second hand experience with these strange things.
Thanks!
Ah, thank you! Yes, I agree that it was a novel idea but I do recall the short lifespan of the barrel being mentioned. In fact, in the picture of the American prototype, the man was handling the gun with heavy gloves and for good reason. Evidently, these barrels heated quickly what from the...
My thoughts exactly! I've seen stock footage of Nazi soldiers using mirrors to see around corners and shoot that gun (or a similar model). In fact, the very same video explained that the gun was also intended to fire rounds into tanks when the hatch was opened.
Unfortunately, I could not...
I don't want to get into the morals or ethics that will charge this avenue of discussion. However, I would like to add that this discussion has excellent potential for further research and opinion. I wouldn't want to hijack this thread discussion, but I don't know that the overall topic would...
I have to make a confession:
I've been known to invite myself to events, receptions, etc., or otherwise let myself into backstage rooms, off-limits areas, etc., without even the slightest moral/ethical qualm.
However, I do not take these situations for granted and I do my best to present...
Excellent, thanks for all that information.
So let me ask you, when you say Jack O'Lanterns are made from turnips, do you mean the typical US tradition (pumpkin with candle and carved face) except using a turnip? Just curious, as I'd like to try a turnip this year. ;)
I've been interested in this difference for some time, although I've done little research into it.
So would other UK loungers agree that Halloween "fancy dress" or "costumes" are primarily horror film/genre specific?
In the US, I would go as far as to say we are very much Hollywood...
I must respectfully point out that you and I don't quite disagree on content so much as spirit.
To say that drive-ins started in the early '30's, while true, is misdirection; it would be like claiming self-propelled automobiles were created in the late 1700's and therefore automotive...
I believe you're correct here. Much of America's recreational options in the 50's and 60's hinged on the fact that everyone was purchasing and driving new cars. We had Route 66, for instance, as well as numerous tourist traps, diners, fast food chains, etc.
Unfortunately, drive-in theaters...
Yeah, I looked for it and came up with nothing. I even tried a Google search with no results. Not sure what happened there but apparently that was just a figment of our imaginations. [huh]
The story you're referring to was featured on Inside Edition earlier this week, or late last week. It as an interesting story and I have seen similar "contests" held for other products here in Iowa (although unrelated to movies).
I loved drive in movies! Currently there are 4-5 theaters still...
