You should be pleased, Torp. That is a beautiful hat. I really love the dark blue.
Your's is beautiful too, HD. I think I know the next color I'll ask Art for.
I agree, jecoe. It's definitely not a dress hat. I put it on tonight after I got home from work so my better half could take some pictures of it for the lounge. I will wear it more with jeans and sweatshirts or t-shirts, but that's how I wear most of my hats anyway. I don't wear a hat to work...
I'm inclined to think the Campdraft is the best of the Akubras, RBH. I probably pick mine up nearly half the time. Most of the rest of the time the black from Major Moore is on my noggin. Now there is a very fine hat.
Another Akubra arrived at our house today. It's a heritage fawn Banjo Patterson. The brim took a bit of a beating in transit, and I had to wet it down a la Gene and work the waves out of it.
The jury is still out on this one. It's no Campdraft, and it has quite a bit of taper in the crown. The...
Possible because they don't have any to sell? They suggested I keep an eye on their website in February and said that the new distribution would be from the east coast to the west.
I just received an answer to my e-mail from Ron Lilburne at Hatsdirect. He said Hatsdirect is waiting to hear from Akubra regarding their request for a special run of MID-GRAY Campdrafts. He said Akubra's response would be dependent on whether they have suitable trim and wind trolleys. I...
I won my first Open Road on e-bay last week. It was also the first hat I've bought from e-bay. I've been waiting for daylight to take pictures of it, but when I did I found that flash pictures gave the best rendition of the hat's color.
I'd like to see any comments or criticisms...
I posted some pics of this hat this afternoon, but I didn't have any on the noggin shots. Here are a couple:
This hat, an OR, seems to me to sit high on my head. Is that how they usually are? And is there a customary way to wear an OR - front brim snapped up or snapped down? This one...
I've gathered up a bit of a colllection, not as many as some of these guys though.
3 Panamas - plus one in the works
4 Vintage - plus one more coming
4 Customs - one VS and 3 Buckaroos
3 Akubras - plus two coming
Once you get started it's hard to stop a snowball on a downhlll run, Rob.
It'll be my pleasure too, carter, if a gray one shows up at my door. Did anyone happen to mention which gray they might consider. I'm in for any gray, but moonstone or lighter would be very cool with me.
Sounds to me like it'd be hot as all get out, Rob. Have you thought about checking with Panama Bob? That's who I'd recommend.

It may take him a while, but he'll get you a nice hat for a price you won't beat.
At the end of last week I won my first ever e-bay hat. I'd been wanting to add a real Open Road to my collection, so I bid on three hoping I'd win one. Well, I won two instead. The first one arrived on Monday or Tuesday, and I've been waiting to take pictures of it in daylight.
I...
Rob, that campdraft looks great on you. I'm glad you decided to keep it. What Akubra calls silverbelly isn't what I think of as silverbelly either, but what do I know?
The Fed looks good too, but the campdraft was made for you.
