There are a particular group of individuals, whom some refer to as "hipsters", that wear an article, or articles, of clothing with the express purpose of being "ironic". As an example, one might wear a pair of high high-tops outside of tight tapered jeans, a wolf-howling-at-the-moon shirt, neon...
I think the first problem regarding this thread is the question being raised, "How long does a modern Stetson hat last? There's no quantifiable evidence for an answer. There's no research on the topic, nor will there be, which says Stetsons made after 1970 will last X years. Nor is there...
Quite right; should you experience dissatisfaction, bring it to the attention of the hat dealer. Depending on their repudability, and want of customers, they should at least offer you advice.
And to the contrary, I believe my Stetson looks BETTER than it did originally. It certainly feels...
This is exactly how I would describe what's happened to my hat in small spots. It's a "blotchy" look. Subtle in some places, and bright in others. I believe my Stetson was originally somewhere around $150-180 at the time, so this wouldn't come as a surprise (re: quality of felt - most likely...
Yeah, this is probably the case. My Imperial and Ultra finish (both pretty much the same) have had no signs of wear or tear. It's the Royals that seem to be trouble, but I couldn't verify that beyond anecdote.

I own about 9 modern Stetsons, circa 2005 or so. My midweight gray is my workhorse (I believe it used to say Royal Stetson on the sweatband). Initially, after my first encounter with rain, subtle pink spots appeared around the crown and inner brim. After pulling the ribbon during my recent...
Personally, I'm not one who appreciates these updates in technology. I prefer written word on paper - movies on discs - music on records (or CD ;)). I like to be able to hold my valued possessions.
Smithy, that's an interesting point about Intelligence Agencies going back to physical copies -...
That's for sure! I gave it 4 of 5 stars on netflix (because netflix rating system is SO important lol). I really enjoyed the soundtrack and the visuals. There are some truly creepy scenes, as well as some instances of real suspense. I also liked how the killing was so vicious - it wasn't glossed...
Although I'm a book fetishist, I agree with Pompidou.
Physical copies of media will no longer be valid, or produced, due to costs involved. Digital media will engulf all things eventually as faster and smaller computers are created.
DVDs: At some point in the near future, I imagine we'll...
