    Did You Get An Allowance?

We (my credit union) have these little cardboard banks we give away at trade shows and such. Three parallelograms that rubberband together into a "whatever a six sided figure is called". One is marked Save, one is marked Spend and the third marked Share. Get the kids in the habit of...

    Did You Get An Allowance?

My sister and I did age-appropriate household chores as we grew up and got all our needs provided for, but for spending money, once we hit the double digits, we had to work for other people if possible. (not that we couldn't get a little cash from the 'rents if needed, they weren't miserly)...

Campaign hat study from "The Wind and The Lion"

The '03 Springfield was adopted in, what, June of that year? Remember, the Marine Corps at the time was still primarily spread out in ship's detachments, not formed, centrally-based infantry units. Also, we were poor, just like today. "Correct" or not I certainly wouldn't be surprised if it...

Oh, if I were to create an impression. This would be it. As a turn of the century Sergeant of Marines. I should probably start with the Krag. :D

Campaign hat study from "The Wind and The Lion"

Daniel, They showed that scene, from the boat to the capture of the Pasha with the Captain Jerome line "p.o. Dave" quoted, at my first "Customs and Courtesies" class at Boot in '91. Motivating stuff. First thing I did when I got back home was track down that movie.

WWII ace goes to his grave in a coffin shaped like a Hurricane fighter

Beat me to it. There are a couple WWII photos of him in uniform shorts (flew in Burma) climbing on his bird and his dress uniform head shot in the story as well.

Guy I work with also works at Banana Republic. Has one of the newer silk/linen suits. Looks pretty good. According to him the armholes are tightening back up.

The belt is a replica of the one Tom Selleck wore in Quigley Down Under. The manufacturer probably didn't have a cartridge rifle around when they shot the photo. From the ad copy of the web site.

    The Adventurer's Gear Thread

I read the Storm King book as well. Such a waste of brave men and women. For adjustable loops, use no elastic. It will wear out and has no vintage class. Man, I wish I could draw... Picture this. A leather patch, say 3"h x 6"w. Starting 1/2" in from one side and centered by...
