There are various types of work caps from back then. The one shown in the picture is commonly worn by engineers, but I'm sure lots of other tradesmen wore them as well. The more rounded top version is associated with welding. Here is a modern repro example:
Even a repro with the Stifel dots fabric will cost a bit of scratch. I think you need 2.5 yards of fabric for shirt. My tailor will pop a shirt off for me for about $100. Plus finding buttons will run about $150+.
Well said! I did very much the same thing...luckily selling off a bunch of BC Ethic stuff at it's peak. I've owned off an on some loud 50's stuff, but really prefer flap pocket gabs, hollywood pants and hawaiian shirts.
I have some of the J. Crew chambrays, but I wear them to my office job on...
Not a real fan of the lace-up denim, but it is definitely based on a pre WWII style USN denim pant. I have a couple of pieces of the Mister Freedom line and they are fantastic, but the price is outer limits.
