Maybe it's difficult to tell from the colours on screen but it looks like the hat could be a '57+ vintage, due to the band colour and the top/cover is a pre-'57 vintage OD one, maybe even not an officer grade one. Like someone's trying to WW2-ify a cap. B T -

Djgo-cat-go, one issue could be the kleur. Can you combine and accessorise with this field-grey? You can also get a Luftwaffe version of this trouser, which is a blue-grey. I think they may be a bit too woolly for everyday pants but as CP said, good for the outdoor activities. B T- BellyTank

Has cotton fabric changed over the years?
Definitely sounds like poly-cotton. Cotton, as yarn and cloth has changed over the years. It is processed differently, cheaply- the better grades and qualities have now become luxury goods. What we see now in t-shirts and other low-end cottons is pretty junky. But pilling and static...- BellyTank
