Adding onto this, I wonder if given the humidity of the environment I live in, I ought to even be thinking about a high-end straw hat, unless Montecristi hats are more durable along those lines than Cuenca. -

Couple of issues with new fedora: pinhole, stains from skin
Couple o' responses: 1. Don't think I want to do the Earbags. They would sort of mess up the impact of the fedora IMO. :D 2. The only thing about the Scout protector ... searching the archives here (and I'm getting a better handle on doing it so I hope I won't be asking repetitive questions... -

Thanks TonyB, I'll let the hole be, and not worry too much about my "ear stains." :D I'll do the brushing, other normal hat maintenance stuff, but if my ears stain the hat a bit underneath, where nobody but me really knows about it, so be it. It will just mark it as "my hat," and I definitely... -

Have inquired about the Federation with Hatsdirect.com, it definitely is an attractive hat. One other question, though ... would that tall a crown (5 5/8) be a little much for me? In addition to having a huge, round head, I'm also 5-7 and stocky. For you baseball fans, think Hack Wilson, LOL...
