Battle of Britain 75 years - wish I could be there.

Stearmen, thanks so much for the documentaries. I found the 303 Squadron piece well done. My ancestry is Polish, my great-grandparents having arrived in the USA in the 1880's.

I wish you the best with the roof. Our roof on our 1890's Victorian Queen Anne was replaced many years ago during the summer. The contractor had torn off the old shingles and had not completely covered the roof with tarps. A sudden rain storm sent water through the rear attic into a back...

I agree, Stearman. At least with fixed wing, if the prop stopped cold one could still glide to a semi-controlled crash!

The conversations about jackets are so diverse, yet when we realize that there is no perfect world, there can be no perfect jacket. Therefore, we can never fault anyone for endlessly searching for the "holy grail" of jackets and collecting until they drop dead of exhaustion (but hopefully not...

    Current USAF Issue A-2s

Deerhunter, Cooper A-2's tend to have the modern addition of side panels , may be to accommodate the heftier physique of most adults. You will also see that the epaulets are tapered much more than the WW-2 style A-2' s. My Cooper size 44 is typically looser than the pricier repros that you...

WW2 US Army EM Shirt -Khakis question

Epaulets were authorized for officers only during WW2. New 2nd Lts were often referred to as "shave tails" since they were said to cut material off the bottom rear of their enlisted shirt to form epaulets for the shoulders.

That wainscotting ceiling is impressive. The cost to use wood is no longer feasible. The interior wall of my detached garage are lined with wainscot also.
