Hot day in So Cal, so drinks on the patio. Had a grown up lemonade: a slug of homemade Limoncello in a tall, ice-filled glass, with the juice of half a lemon and topped up with club soda. Really refreshing.
Are you reading the SIx Stories in the First Person Singular collection? If so, enjoy! There is one--I believe called "Jane" that I really like but they are all good!
Gray...... unless you are planning on wearing it in the country, to the races or hunting/shooting/fishing, in which case I think that a blown hat is indicated--and should be a Trilby anyway in that case.
A great book, indeed! One of my favorites. While TMAM is clearly his masterpiece, The White Guard and Heart of a Dog are well worth reading as well. Anushka has already bought the sunflower oil.....
Great ads--thanks for posting. One of my guilty pleasures is looking through back issues of the Illustrated London News--mostly for the ads. These are right up there.

I just scored a pair of Peals for BB black patent evening pumps at my local Out of the Closet thrift store. Worn once. $7.75. One size bigger than the pair I bought twenty years ago so just about right! How could I resist?
I like all sorts of atmospheres but one of the biggest things for me is what kind--if any--of music is playing. I was recently in the bar of a celebrity chef's restaurant in Las Vegas. Despite all of that, it was actually a beautiful room--great decor, fantastic bartender, wonderful choice of...
