It's looking more like I'm not going to be able to make it to Covington in March. We'll most likely have to make plans another time. I regret that I will probably miss the fun this time, but I won't forget it if something changes for the better.
Good advice, Tom. I'm pretty much convinced that this hat wants to be a teardrop.
Thanks for all the positive comments, gentlemen. This is only the second had Art has made for me, but I feel the need for another already. Perhaps an artlite sahara is in my future....
The eagle has landed. I asked Art for a dove, and this is what he sent. The brim is a 2 1/2 inch overwelt, the crown is 5 1/2 inches open, and the ribbon is charcoal with a touch of burgundy in the knot (Art's choice). Now I'm working on deciding on a crease for it....teardrop or diamond?
There was a pink slip from the post office on my door this afternoon. I'm pretty sure the package I missed is one from Oregon. It should be a whippetesque dove with an overwelt 2 1/2 inch brim instead of a wide brim binding. Art was going to design the ribbon. I'll see tomorrow. Will post pictures.
I'm planning to make it to Covington the weekend of 3/23 unless something comes up on short notice, so I'll most likely get to meet you then if it's still on, Mike. I'm looking forward to it. But that doesn't mean you can't PM me if you get up this way.
One of these times when that thing is on my head, I'm gonna jerk it off real quick and see if I can catch her. Maybe sooner than she thinks as it's on my head right now......
Thanks, Duper and DJ. The thought of something in silverbelly or some other lighter color has crossed my mind as well, maybe even with a slightly wider brim. I do love the pencil curl though. And, Duper, I think it's those red boots the lady is wearing that demands so much attention. ;)
I finally got a chance to take a few pictures of Mike's latest. Here it is. The color is pecan. The brim is 3 1/4 bound with a pencil curl. I didn't measure the crown height but it's creased to a diamond. This hat has the most fantastic felt, and I love the liner. I may have to look into some...
I checked it out, Rusty. I'm off that weekend and have no plans unless something unforeseen comes up. Kim won't make it this time though. She has plans to attend her cousin's step-daughter's wedding in Chicago that weekend. Some of her French cousins are coming to the US for the wedding, and we...
I am really liking it, R. This is the first hat Mike has made for me from a western body and the first hat from a western body I have at all. I'm really liking the way it feels. Thanks Mike and the rest of you guys, Rocky and Fallon.
I'll look into 3/23 and see what I can do about making it...
I'm wearing a new Buckaroo tonight that I didn't expect, but Kim found it on our front stoop when she got home. She said she thought about putting a bow on the box and calling it my present for my birthday that's coming up, but she knew that wouldn't work. I'll put up a picture or two later when...
Cain F 550 tonight. First of these from a box fresh from shipping. Great flavor, but a little rough. Just to get these rehumidified willl help, but I expect these to age really well.
My contribution is on the way, Art, and I should be in your que now or shortly. Payment sent. I also saw another that would fit in my stable well, and my birthday's in February. Hmmm.....
Thanks for doing this. I appreciate your work for our veterans.
