Gees Mr. JtL, what an eye.
I had to stare at the photos a long time to see the stain from the bleed through. If I had bought that hat I would have been really diappointed when I unboxed it. Mr JtL should form an ebay photo consultation service!
Highland Brewing
You have had speaks with Mr Wong, I presume? A most interesting chap, with an interesting story. For those of us who enjoy beer I am eternally grateful for the likes of Oscar Wong.
Black Mountain and Mr Wong, Asheville and Jack-O-the-Wood (Green Man), Fairview and the...
OK Mr Fish, What about the full bodied version??
Now that you've given us the run down on your Bloody Mary Light please go on to the Works Bloody Mary, the "Kitchen Sink" version. I'm still searching for a home-made version that can compare with those I got once and only once in a bar on Tybee...
Thanks Mr Bentley
I'll have to look for the mini cans in my part of the world. I can buy the small bottles but have been a bit reluctant to do that because of the amount of containers which pile up but I'm afraid I just end up tossing a lot of the tonic because it goes flat before I use up...
Mr Fletch - Does Tonic Water Go Bad?
The tonic water I buy surely does go bad. Sometimes it's bad (bad being flat and/or tastes lousy) when I get it home. My tastes dictate Schwepes. I can't even warm up to the "diet" version, it's got to be the real thing. Schewepes or no once opened it...
Good job Mr Fish!
I was looking but both decided to pass because of the size 7 which is a wee bit small for me. At those prices I should have snapped up one of them and put it on the stretcher.
Constellation - Kelly Johnson
Mr Diamondback, Thanks for putting me on the correct path with the Kelly Johnson news. In days gone by I have told way too many people that the Connie was a brainstorm of HH. It sounded good anyway, but the credit for that beauty needs to go to its rightful owner...
Constellation - Thanks Aristaeus
Was there ever a better looking flying machine than the Constellation? Thanks for the Pan Am photo. Before now I don't think I've seen anything except the those in TWA dress. Someone once said that Howard Hughes (Herod Huge - Mad Magazine's spoof) had a role in...
Mr. Big, I'm right there with you
Mr. Race...Now that we see these photos I'm thinking neither you nor I care much that HadleyH probably didn't pick up the shirt off the floor before putting it on?
HadleyH (excuse me while I loosen my collar), you really need to rotate some of this stuff...
Interesting Mr Cairo, thanks
So, it is then quite true that some portion of the population do pronounce Smithwicks as Smith-icks. I'm hoping to hear from some other people in that part of the world before concluding that I also ought to say Smith-icks. I'm not opposed to doing so I'd just...
I finally took a look...that is a bullet hole?
A bullet hole the size of a nickle? From what, an ack ack gun? It looks more like a rat hole. Good grief.
Guinness on top...of course you are correct
I have no idea what I was thinking when I said the opposite. The spoon, which hangs on the tap on a chain, is used to lessen the effects of the two layers mixing when the Guinness is poured on top of the Bass or whatever.
Smithwicks - Edward, may I ask...
Recently we were called on our pronunciation of the brand name Smithwicks. This happened in one of the pseudo Irish bars in town, a nice place but just a few to many pompous barkeeps. The barkeep is saying we should pronounce Smithwicks as Smith icks, rather...
With my dunce cap on Mr Chiliarches
I confess that you are correct. The hat you sold me is, indeed, a Knox. But, as I look at the Stetson ad, to my way of thinking, my Knox and the Stetson came off the same mold. I also have sort of natural (wheat) Disney, which is labeled as "Genuine Milan"...
Pugs for Milan Hats - Vendors
Jazz, I'll have to go back and look, unfortunately I didn't make a list of the retailers. I did, however, follow your link to Shushan's and ordered up 4 of the pugs offered and have received them already. All 4 are printed, as opposed to solid color, and I could...
Puggaree Hooks?
This is a bit off topic but I'd like to tinker with making some pugs, for my Milan and pseudo Milan hats, out of old neckties (for example) and I'm wondering where I can buy the hooks that many pugs come with. I've googled and found a lot of hat supply vendors with lots of pugs...
Ditto on what Mr Goose said...
My hat is a Filson, in tan, but it looks like the hat in the photo Goose had in his reply. I have stretched my Filson by getting it wet and using one of my old wooden stretchers on it. I take my time as those old stretchers can put a load of pressure on the...
Thanks for the photo
Thanks for the photo. Your BR pith and my own both have the clear plastic liner, same same. That plastic always makes me think hot! when I'm wearing the thing. When the weather cools some and we go walking/hiking, in the mountains or wherever, I like to wear the old BR...
Bananna Republic Pith
My BR pith must be about 25 years old. I bought it in the first BR shop I ever saw which was in Charleston, SC. Does yours have a clear plastic liner? I was always tempted to pull that out. Was it supposed to stay put?
