Oh yeah, that IS her!
I'm reading David Eisenhower's "Going Home to Glory" which talks about-- though not in much detail-- Dwight Eisenhower being pals with Freeman Gosden. (Buddies from Augusta National Country Club.)
This product name seems to have struck some people's funny bones. Over the years, I've heard several gags on old radio shows.
I don't recall any being particularly funny.. therefore, I can only quote the one I heard yesterday, from Life With Luigi, in the late 1940s.
There's a fundraising...
I may go back and grab the latest one I saw-- muted red and green with some off-white. "A little bit Christmas-y" which I prefer to cartoon reindeer and golfing Santas.
Ties with a shape to the skinny end
A few times in thrift stores I've seen ties which have three things in common:
Thin material (silk);
About 11" shorter than the other ties;
Narrow end widens to form a shape which would complement the wide end when worn "free."
One was a Wembley; another...
Didn't look to see if anyone's mentioned the 1933 radio series "The Origin of Superstition."
Fifteen-minute shows. I've only heard one-- about bad luck if anyone whistles in a theater dressing room.
Penney's /Stafford has three versions of camo pattern bow ties-- green, rust, and gray.
No, they're not the current US military, digital "blocks" camo.
My aunt was a schoolteacher in Kentucky and had Lee Majors for a student. He brought Farrah to visit her, at least once.
Hearing about this-- over the phone from 2500 miles away-- I tried not to pant audibly or make any other sound effects.
Later, he brought another wife for a visit-- Playboy...
There was an alternate version of the famous Lynda Carter poster-- rarely seen. But it was on the cover of Palm Springs Life. It's just a tad naughtier... but I didn't buy it for some reason!
The girl with the car is reminiscent of the current poster girl at Charles David Shoes. That one's hair is only a bit reddish, but she has the same creamy skin.
Of course, that being a shoe store, the pose is much different!
I walk by the "slightly stale movies" plex ($1 to $4 depending on day of the week, and whether it's 3-D) and it's only about once in 2-3 months they have anything I want to bother with.
But I drive 20 miles and spend $8 for a classic (or not-so-classic) at Old Town Music Hall.
I remember Touché Turtle, but nothing about him having a partner.
Hmmm... We had a dog who repeatedly earned the nickname " dum-dum," right around that time.
"The Sinking of the Titanic" by Gavin Breyars has some nearly-buried voices. At one point I hear two ladies in conversation, but I have no idea what they're saying.
And there's a fellow i take to be a retired British officer... I expect him to mention his service in "IN-jiah" at any moment...
I saw a post-Schulz CB shirt, and instead of saying "Good Grief" or "ARRRGHHH!" he was saying something containing "#*%@*#"... I don't recall him using that sort of language...
