Neil,
I'm glad we could do business. You're glad to have some money back. I'm glad to have some of your Optimo's which I could not otherwise afford. And the hats are glad to get worn regularly. Everybody wins!
Interesting pictures. I checked out the website of Lock & Company Hatters. At about $1.60 per pound sterling today, it made me appreciate the prices and selection of the hat stores we have here in the USA.
My kids (boy 15, girls 12 & 8) have not asked to go on dates yet. We are teaching them the time to date is when they are ready to marry. That means they are ready to provide for a household and children. I dated a few times as a teenager and on into college years, but I considered it a waste...
The Optimo is even more awesome in person. I love the feel of it in my hands and on my head. It fits so well I could forget it's on my head. That Optimo finally found a permanent home. Thanks again.
Is there something wrong with my caribou (gray) Stetson Chatham?
I've been wearing real hats for only two months now. I am extremely careful to handle the hats only with clean hands. My first hat is a light brown Stetson Lodi and still looks as good as when I bought it. The Chatham is my...
I absolutely agree with Sam Craig above. I read the lounge daily and have learned much about hats and style. Reading the constructive and informative comments from the regulars here has taught me alot. I've found this to be a safe place free from much of what I find offensive on the internet...
I've been wearing hats for about a month now. About the same time, I started dressing much nicer too. The people who have known me the longest are the ones who seem to react the most. At first they were surprised at the hats. There were some snide remarks about the door-to-door salesman...
I am enjoying sticking out like a sore thumb here in southeast Texas. Not yet with vintage clothes, just my Stetson Lodi. I think I'm the only guy in town wearing a real, non-western hat. But I love it. I know it looks good. Better yet, my wife thinks it looks good.
And I love reading...
I'm enjoying reading Blondie Volume 1 by Chic Young.

Blondie and Dagwood, 1930-1933, were very different characters from the ones I've been following in the newspaper comics all my life. It's very...
I'm an engineer at work, but at home I maintain a 3200-volume library. We are a home-school family that loves to read. Most of our collection are classic works of fiction, vintage books from 1900-1960s, reprints of titles from 18th-19th centuries, biographies, and history books. I don't think...
This is a very interesting thread. Many of us are interested in life in the past and recreate some of it in our current-day lives. Many people who know me and my family comment how we are stuck in the past. They're right when it comes to our taste in music, books, and clothes. They also...
I found this site through searching the internet to learn about classic men's hats. I bought my first dress fedora to match a new suit for this past Christmas. I knew I liked the look of the fedora, but I didn't know anything about how to find or select one. In fact, one month ago, I didn't...
