    Classic Style Fall '07

It's here! I will have some beach reading! Thoughts after it has been devoured.

    Show Us Your Purchases!

Nice haul on the buckles LD! I can so see you in that sweater too! And the shoes Laura! I've never heard of that designer-another name to search for (sigh).

Still nada! I'm really hoping it arrives in today's mail--I'm going away for the long weekend and I'd like to peruse the new issue by the ocean.

    MEN of the LOUNGE

[/IMG] Oh, very nice look Quigley! Great fabric on the jacket and I love the bowtie. I could see you in LA Confidential, fitting right in.

    MEN of the LOUNGE

I didn't go far enough back to catch all the new pictures--as everyone else has said that is a fantastic jacket Technonut! You look great in that hat. :offtopic: I love that kitchen--is it yours? Such a cheerful yellow and the 30's touches in the cutouts in the arch below the cabinets.

    The ones that got away

Bwah! I was scrolling back through this thread to make sure I hadn't missed anything and I came upon this post. I think we should officially enstate this as The New Vintage Lady's Ultimate Curse--isn't that the worst fate you could wish someone ebay shopping-wise? ;)

Are You Brave Enough to Share Your Prom Photos?

Yeah, they were pretty hard core. I didn't fit in there at all socially or culturally but at least I got a good education.

What was the last TV show you watched?

Oh, I'm sorry to hear this LD. It sounds like it was bad cheesy and not good cheesy too, if that makes any sense!

    The ones that got away

That gorgeous thing was your size? That just twists the knife, doesn't it? I love Edwardian dresses too. Here are some from my fantasy wardrobe, courtesy of Vintage Textile. I've blocked out what they sold for. Welcome to my Newport Cottage, how nice of you to call! Handmade...

    The ones that got away

Another dress I adored but I dropped out early. It went for $222.50! It's lovely but it wouldn't be that difficult to reproduce--the mysteries of ebay confound me.

    Face Shape?

My first instinct was to go with heart shaped but measurements don't lie--looks like you're oval. I'd look at hairstyles for both face shapes if I were you though. Do you, by any chance have a widow's peak?

    What are you wearing today??

You look so wonderful! I especially love your hair--is it naturally curly or does it take lots of work to get it looking that adorable? I love how you're holding the phone so daintily too!

    Upbeat Period Films

I read "remake" and thought "oh no!" Then I read that cast and thought "yay!" Wow, that could be wonderful is right!--the guy who adapted P&P, and an embarassment of great British character actor riches. I love Mark Williams, Laurence Fox, Sophie Thompson, and Timothy Spall (haven't seen his...

Help me accessorise an Edwardian Walking Suit

Lots of good advice here (I love John Peacock's books--great inspiration sources) That's a wonderful suit and you look so pretty in it. You remind me of Evie in the first season of The House of Eliott.

    Far From Heaven

Somehow I missed this one when it was in the theater and I just saw it this summer. Really well done. I thought Dennis Quaid was especially good (and Patricia Clarkson was perfection as the bitchy neighbor). The clothes were extremely pleasing too. And you're right Paddy--I loved the...

    What are you wearing today??

The gloves...I love those gloves! Gorgeous fabric in the coat too.

    Upbeat Period Films

"I can see how one might be... stirred up." Ah, Mr. Beebe! I love the killer line at the end too; Lucy: "I have to go. They trust me!" Mr. Emerson: "Why should they, when you deceived everyone, including yourself?"

    Upbeat Period Films

My (then) teenaged friends and I saw that so many times in the theater when it came out--it was like the "Titanic" of 1986. All of us girls wanted Lucy's hair and the clothes in it are to die for. I always thought her brother Freddy played by Rupert Graves was the cutest guy in that...
