I usually do my hair in a vintage style (either 40's, 50's or 60's) without fail (unless I leave my hair wavy, like in my avatar), and I usually incorporate at least one vintage piece (or at the very least, vintage-inspired or repro) into my outfit everyday.
I usually wear a pair of vintage...
Hmm...
shampoo & conditioner (every other day)
soap
body wash
face wash
toothpaste
facial moisturizer
body moisturizer (sometimes)
anti-frizz serum when my hair is wet
hairspray
different anti-frizz serum when my hair is dry
deoderant
That's a lot!
I used a Kodak Duaflex II for my senior project in my high school photography class. I loved medium format but couldn't afford a nice medium format camera at the time, so I got a vintage one for $5. It was great because I had very little control over how the final image looked as there were no...
Those are great! I recently got really lucky and got a pair of deadstock 30's (or maybe earlier, I'm not quite sure) crocodile (or alligator?) lace-up heels for $12. The reason why they were marked so cheap was because they thought no one would fit into them! I've got ridiculously narrow feet.
Unfortunately, I'm addicted to the curling iron. I don't even know how to use sponge rollers. Does it take forever to dry and aren't they hard to sleep on?
If you're willing to spend a few (well, a lot) extra bucks, I've heard really good things about Kiehl's Leave-In Conditioner. I have a gift card at Nordstrom's so I'm gonna try to pick it up and see if it tames the frizzies I get from my hot rollers.
Do you use Citreshine when your hair is dry? I was doing that for awhile and it had no effect, but when i put it into damp hair it works wonders!
I just wish my waves were more cohesive. I'm stuck with little waves all over so it looks like I crimped my hair up all 80's style!
I have wavy hair that just turns into a gross ball of frizz if I dont put anything in it. My favorite product by far is Citreshine De-frizz Serum (I think that's what its called!). It smells excellent and works wonders!
I want to try out the sea salt thing now though, beach hair is always the...
I dont use eyeliner (mostly because of my shaky hands, but it also just looks kind of weird on me) and have never used foundation. I could probably use something to even out my skintone, but moisturizer and SPF is good enough for me. I hate not wearing blush though, I just look so dead without...
I love old-fashioned names. My name, Meredith, is kind of old-fashioned. Not very common at least. My dad wanted to name me Isabel Jack after his grandma (Jack is used as a girl's middle name in Scotland). I'm still angry that my mom vetoed it!
So my future kids, if I get my way, will be...
Oh my goodness! That's truly horrible. I'm so sorry that happened to you.
I'm 19 but I could easily pass for younger, so when I'm dressed vintage, especially when wearing stockings, I get a lot of unwanted attention from much, much older men. I definitely appreciate the femininity and cheeky...
I absolutely love AP. My best friend took me to their San Francisco shop yesterday and bought me a pair of off-black seamed stockings for my birthday. I have yet to wear them out (my girdle with the garters is at home and I'm visiting my parents right now!), but they look beautiful and I'm very...
my boyfriend has plugs and they actually suit him very well. i was actually really skeptical that it would look good with him (since so many people look terrible with them), but they work so well with his ears that you barely even notice them.
regular earrings on guys though? not a fan...
one of the best cheap items ive found was a gorgeous gunmetal 1950's cocktail dress with an atomic print for $9. it has a deep v-neck and a really small waist and fits me like a glove! i havent seen anything like it before.
another excellent deal ive gotten is a mint condition old stock pink...
i love going to the movies with my grandma. i like to be quiet while watching a film and i have noticed that shes pretty much the only person who doesnt bug me and try to talk when i go to the movies!
people nowadays just dont know how to act. last time i went to the movies with her some...
one MAJOR counter-vintage thing about me is that i listen to a lot of punk music, and some hip-hop. my main musical interst is in psychobilly, which is, in a way counter-vintage (its punk attitude also plays into its sound), but its roots are still in rockabilly, country and surf.
im also not...
i definitely trust your judgement then! i still have to wear custom orthopedic inserts in my shoes, and high heels do a doozy on me. but they are just too perfect for words! i think ill treat myself to them for my birthday.
does anyone know if the pumps are as comfortable as the wedges? ive got my eye on those babydoll pumps, but i have really flat feet and got a stress fracture about 5 months ago from wearing high heels, so im scared to invest in another pair!
maybe ill just buy them anyway! :)
i definitely am an artist, and not just because im an art major! i have been doing creative things my whole life, have always gone against the grain in a quiet kind of way. in middle school i gave up trying to fit in, which is why i think ive come to appreciate vintage style, etc. also, i think...
