Scotrace, did you know that Hometime did a series of shows building your dreamhouse? http://www.hometime.com/Admin/shopsite/dvd_6205.htm They've got study plans and other accessories too. Lots of fun and I love the Minnesotan accents-makes me homesick.
I'm another one who loves Arts and...
I love those glasses!
I think your hair looks adorable but I feel your pain about regretting losing the length. If you're conflicted about having cut your hair I'd advise against getting bangs. In my experience, bang remorse is even worse than length remorse!
Thanks for posting your pictures DeeLovely, especially of those pants--I've never seen them made up before.
Those pictures are adorable RetroModelSari--the photographer really got the sexy/innocent vibe of the old pinups well.
Clark's is trying to bankrupt me--I love all those shoes!
I checked up on some of those Aerosoles shoes we were ogleing earlier in the year--the DemiFinalist peeptoe platforms are nearly 50% off (I'm partial to the red patent leather but the brown leather would be more servicable)...
I don't think I resemble anybody famous but it's 2:30 am and I can't sleep so I did the MyHeritage thing just for kicks. My results were:
Julie Christie 63% (I wish!)
Miranda Richardson 62% (see above)
Christie Brinkley 61% (whaaa? I look nothing like her!)
Kirsten Dunst 60% (eh...
This is the first movie in a long time that I'm purposefully going to see on opening night (tomorrow). I actually looked for sneak preview showings but had no luck. I shall report in after viewing.
I've found this calculator to be pretty reliable; http://www.westegg.com/inflation/
According to this calculator, what cost $5.00 in 1934 would cost $75.25 in 2006.
Hope this helps!
CherryRed, that's such a pretty frame! I'd bet the print was done in the 30's of a much older painting--looks 1770ish to me.
Not strictly vintage, but I found a great vintage styled sweater at a thrift shop yesterday. I paid $6. It's milk chocolate brown wool with a button off "mink"...
She is mine!
I've been haunting that charity shop for weeks--stopped by last night and they had just put the bike on the floor. $35. The clerk was sweet--he said he was sending me psychic messages to come in since he knew I wanted it the most (apparently several people had inquired about...
I can't even tell you how many times have I seen that film yet I spill tears like a Pavlovian dog everytime I see that scene and the flashback to Paris when Ilsa makes her "I love you so much. And I hate this war so much. Oh, it's a crazy world. Anything can happen..." speech straight through to...
I've seen that production (on DVD only, alas), you're so lucky to have seen it live--I've always thought that it's very much a dry run for Moulin Rouge. http://www.amazon.com/Puccini-Boheme-Luhrmann-Australian-Opera/dp/B00006LPE9 over $60 but you could probably find a cheaper copy on ebay or...
Many thanks for all the kind words! I'm fairly critical of photos of myself but I really like that one--no makeup, hair blown to heck but I'm happy and I think it comes through.
You've got a darn good eye Daisy--that picture was taken at Long Sands Beach in York ME, just down the road from...
Another really enjoyable issue. Add my voice to those hoping for more info for the ladies, especially fashion (although I realize the magazine is primarily aimed at men).
Things I especially enjoyed about this issue included the Editor's Note, The Latest (I didn't know John Krasinski was...
Everyone looks so lovely! Daisy has the most amazing facial bone structure--Katharine Hepburn would be jealous of those cheekbones!
Thank you for your kind complement, Harp.
C'est moi at sunset on a beach in Maine on Friday last.
