You could also always do a high-waisted skirt with a pretty blouse. Usually high-waisted skirts are a bit below knee-length, so they aren't too revealing!
If you want to wear seamed stockings, I would go for the self-seamed ones, like beige stocking with a beige seam. That way they aren't too...
Whenever I need to unwind I like to go out with my friends and/or boyfriend and do something -- anything! Even if it's as simple as walking down the block to get some frozen yogurt, it makes everything a lot easier for me. I hate being cooped up in my apartment.
Another thing I love to do...
I found the film highly entertaining, especially the bit of the "twist" ending. And I agree, all stories need embellishment for it to be interesting to watch, however it becomes problematic when it is a story that is representative of an entire culture. Even more so when the audience isn't well...
Such nice trees! My family doesn't have one this year (we will be out of the country for Christmas) and this thread is making me miss it even more!
I love the tinsel tree especially!
My first vintage beauty muse was definitely Bettie Page. Her images were what opened me up to vintage in the first place. The I just started saving images on my computer of various vintage ladies, Theda Bara, Jayne Mansfield, Marilyn Monroe (of course), including lots of amateur models or...
My boyfriend is Mexican-American and loves zoot suits. It's one of his dreams to own a really nice one, perfectly tailored for him. I'm pretty indifferent to how they look, but I do love the history that's attatched to them.
Tonight I'm going to a dessert party hosted by some of my parent's friends. I'll be the only one under 45 there, but at least I'll get to eat lots of cookies!
This is definitely true. I was painfully shy, pretty much until college, and would dress so people could know a bit of who I am without me actually having to speak to them. I think that's why I prefer looks and comments to nothing at all, because even though I've always been shy, I've always...
I'm still hunting for the perfect compact to keep my Coty powder in, so unfortunately, until then, I can't keep that in my bag.
I always, however, keep 2 varities of red lipstick, some mini-makeup compacts (mostly for the mirrors -- I hardly every wear eye makeup), and sometimes blush and...
I don't dress all vintage, all the time yet, but I'm slowly creeping towards it. School has hindered me the past quarter from wearing nice clothes (I was taking drawing -- it's messier than it sounds!), but now that I'll be taking a much cleaner studio class, I'll probably wear a lot more of my...
I just bought 2 pairs of Magnolia stockings (the full-fashioned seamed ones), size small, and they are so unbelieveably long I don't know what to do with them! And I'm about 5'3", short, but not tremendously so.
I haven't tried them on with a girdle yet, but they are about a half an inch...
I went crazy and spent a lot (for me anyway) on this little number awhile ago:
It's 1940's, light blue with brown velvet trim. I'm very excited for it, I love light blue and brown.
I often don't win a lot of things because I'm a cheapie too! Recently I allowed myself to go crazy on this dress because it was just too cute for words.
All the other accessories I've gotten lately have been under $20 (some even under $10) and have been quite a steal in my opinion.
I...
Unfortunately, my boyfriend hasn't recieved his yet. But then again, his parents are very good at throwing out all the magazines they get (they consider it junk mail). I hope that hasn't happened though!!
Right now I'm a full-time student at UCLA (art major). I also work in the library business offices, dealing with billing (library fines) and the millions upon millions of invoices we get for the books we purchase.
It's a bit of a headache at times, but I just got a raise, so I can't complain!
The night before last, when I was puking my guts out (food poisoning), I got the L-Word theme song stuck in my head.
It's pretty much the most irritating theme song known to man, and though I was previously obsessed with the show, I can't watch it anymore because now I associate the theme...
Hahah, aww! I would've died of embarrassment! I've almost worn regular modern underwear on the outside of my girdle too, but stopped myself before I left the house. It just seemed like a disaster waiting to happen (and I guess it probably was!).
