Yup, my roommate has BOTH of those brands of jeans. I'm so jealous she can fit into them. I know Tara Subkoff makes high-waisted jeans for her line Imitation of Christ, and I think they are for curvier gals (Scarlett Johannsen modeled them), but I can't find them anywhere, not even online.
One of my favorites, because of it's simplicity, is a wool, plaid (light grey, light pink and light blue), self-pleated skirt, paired with a light blue, knit sweater shirt from Forever 21 (it has really vintage-inspired detailing), with a vintage belt in a matching blue, a girdle, beige...
My boyfriend has been wearing a pomp for years and he cuts his hair in the same fashion The Wingnut described. He leaves the top very long (almost down to his mouth), but when it is combed into a pomp it's only 2-3" in height.
He uses Royal Crown Pomade (which is different from Royal Crown...
You should look into Acne jeans! They are really expensive, but they make a very cute vintage-inspired high waisted pair (the ones my roommate has), and if you don't have much difference between your waist and hips, I totally recommend them!
How cute! I have a vintage pair (that I'm still trying to squeeze into) that are almost exactly the same as the QueenofHeartz ones. I've never seen that site before, thanks for posting it!
High-waisted jeans are definitely in fashion now, except they are cut for, once again, non-curvy figures. My roommate, who is very thin and has no curves whatsoever has a very cute pair of high-waisted jeans, and they fit her perfectly. We have the same waist size, so I went to try them on and...
Everyone has such lovely views! Lady Day, you're making me miss home! I'm originally from the Bay Area (Marin County, to be exact) and I miss it quite often, even though I love L.A. I hope to move to San Francisco one day, even just for a little while. It just looks like such a fun place to...
I feel a lot more comfortable in vintage clothing, even though when I wear dresses I always wear a girdle (the top band rolls too much, I need a new one!) and heels.
To me it's more comfortable because first of all, I know I look loads better, and secondly, my hips aren't busting out of my...
Besides the two dresses I got at the Santa Monica Vintage Expo (I'll take pictures of them soon -- they are gorgeous!), I recently bought these two books off of ebay:
Family Circle's Complete Guide to Beauty & Charm (1951)
The American Woman's Cookbook (1942)
They both should...
I'm the opposite, I almost never wear black. I have one black dress (repro, I get too bored sifting through the large section of black dresses at vintage shops to ever find one I like), and I've only worn it once for an art project!
However, for that I think I spruced it up pretty nicely...
I don't know the store number, but I know there's a stack in the men's interest section (bottom row) in the Barnes & Nobles in El Segundo, CA. Didn't check any "power columns", but next time I go I'll take a look. I was there about 3 weeks ago.
I don't really know UK size equivalents, but Stop Staring makes some really cute jeans. They are available here (http://daddyos.com/retro/ckc6.html) at Daddyo's, but I've also seen them on other sites. They are high waisted and the denim has a nice weight to it. They seem like they'll hold up...
For me, one of my best friends, who is gay, couldn't care less about my vintage style. But then again, we've been friends since before I reguarly dressed vintage and he's more into "indie" style.
However, as for my mom's gay friends, or when I go to gay bars dressed in vintage, I get tons of...
Hahah, maybe I will now! That magazine has changed my boyfriend's life! Even though he was already dressing rockabilly/vintage before hand, he has gotten into it so much more now. I never have to ask him to "look nice" for me anymore, he just does it on his own.
Thank you Classic Style! ;)
Sure thing! I have bangs that are a bit below my eyebrows, so I had to improvise a bit. I basically did a side part, and took the piece of the bigger side I wanted to roll and teased the part that would be on the inside. I have really thick hair (and a lot of it), so I don't have to tease too...
I've only managed this once (it looks better with a hat on), but since I'm still growing out my bangs and they are only down to my brows, it's pretty much impossible:
My beehive/bouffant, which I don't really do anymore! :(
What I usually do (not to exciting, just some curls & pins), and...
What a lovely car. I used to be obsessed with classic cars, I've kinda put that to the wayside recently. I need to get back into them, or at this rate I'll never own one!
