I love this film. I love it more each time I see it. The relationship between Teresa Wright and Dana Andrews is so beautifully subtle, but oh how powerful!
Wow! What a great story! As you can tell, Deanna is one of my all time favorites. I have loved her since I was little. Thanks for sharing that story Lauren. I sure wish there were pictures!
Hello everyone! I have been here about a month now. I came accross this board while looking for a dress to wear to my cousins wedding in October. I had no idea that there were so many people that had similar interests in vintage stuff like I do. I inherited my love of it from my wonderful...
That hair color looks really great on you! I have had my hair that color a couple of years ago (I am a natural red) but I have had to switch to one less bright, with a little more blonde in it. I think because I have so much pink in my skin. But it really looks terrific with your skin tone!
Wow! Lauren! That is a nice collection. I love the slingbacks. They have to be my favorites. I really like the cream ones witht the cut-outs. Just too cute! Thanks for sharing!
I noticed that Vermont Country Store has some cream rouge. Has anyone tried that? I am tempted to get it, it wasn't expensive but they don't show the colors, just give the names. I think you get 2 of them for the price.
Oh so do I!! She is one of my top 5 favorite actresses. My favorite film is "The Major and The Minor". I have and old Max Factor Pancake Makeup ad of her framed in my bathroom and she is wearing a gown from that film.
The pieces I have are wonderful!I have several Ginger Rogers rings, the blue Jeanette MacDonald ring, I wore at my wedding and some others. It is all sterling silver with either rhodium or gold plate. This is not cheap plating either, it wears very well! It also comes boxed beautifully in...
I thought mayby some of you ladies would be interested in this website. They do reproduction jewelry of old Hollywood stars. I have several pieces of Ginger Rogers, Jeanette MacDonald, Vivien Leigh, Jean Harlow and others.
They even have Valentino's watch for the Gents. :)
It is very nice...
I am going to get some of that next week. I tried using the gel/mouse combo on my last set and it turned out way too stiff and clumpy.
My hair has a natural curl and tends to frizz a little after day 2 of my set. Does anyone have a good defrizzer they use for touchups on dry hair??
Thanks for posting that other Deanna picture, Jitterbugdoll. I saved it for reference. ;)
I saw a really neat beauty parlor magazine with instructions on setting styles in ebay yesterday. Now I can't find it. I think it was from '47.
Your pictures are beautiful!
I will have to give the pin curls a try. My hair is about the same length. Do you just pin them in the areas you want the curl, leaving the top back portion smoothe?
I have mostly been using rollers because my hair is pretty long right now.
Can you post a picture of how you have styled your hair after doing the pin curls?? I'd like to compare it to what I get with rollers.
Thanks!
This is going great I am getting a lot a super info from you all! I was talking to my mother about the perfumes a few minutes ago and she also mentioned Tabu. She said my grandmother kept it in a drawer and only used it on special occasions. She remembers giving Evening in Paris as gifts to...
Reading and re-reading the favorite vintage makeup thread got me thinking of vintage perfumes. I know some old sents are still available today but I am just unsure when they are from. I know Emeraude is an older one. Anyone know when it was first out? I also recently saw L'Air Du Temps by Nina...
