    A Hat for my Dad

Thanks so much for all the suggestions! I have a feeling my Dad wants a hat to wear to my occasional re-enactments, or the occasional party, when we all dress up. He doesn't know anything about hats, just wants one nicer than his current one. Which I think is a Stacy Adams and was picked up at...

    A Hat for my Dad

Thanks for all the suggestions! I will measure his straw hat before I proceed to make sure of the size. I will check the Akubra, I think Atomic Glee was the one telling me he liked them. Although I think my dad would probably like a vintage one. I'd forgotten about the Factory store, thanks JT...

    A Hat for my Dad

I would like to get a fedora for my father for a Christmas gift. He has mentioned that he'd like one so here we go! I had my mom check his size, he's 7 1/8 in a straw Cowboy hat he recently purchased. Now, can I trust this to be his size in a fedora? Or am I going to have to try and measure him...

    Christmas Films….

Every year I watch "The Bishop's Wife" and "Desk Set." Cary Grant as an angel, nothing wrong with that! And my job is the modern equivalent of Katharine Hepburn's, so I love this one with her and Spencer Tracy.

    The Holiday Dress Dilemma

Oh, such lovely dresses! I love the pink one and the green one! I don't think you need a lot of accessories with such dynamite dresses- maybe a flower in your hair and some peep toe shoes!

Hello darling Cherie...lets see your best Evening Wear

I won this dress on eBay last year. It was the first vintage dress I'd bought and I definitely got the sizing wrong. Anyway, I've been losing weight the past few months, so I will fit into it, hopefully soon! It's a Gigi Young, silk velvet and it's just gorgeous!

Oh, Thank you! I do have pretty long lashes, but I can't lie- I did use some of the Ardell false lashes on the corners. Then I used this Clinique primer that is white and builds up your lashes. http://www.amazon.com/Ardell-Duralash-Flare-Medium-56-ct/dp/B0002W09TI

    20's Era Costume Concepts

Here's Mom and me at this year's party. My dress I got on ebay. It was burnout silk velvet. It had some holes in the shoulder, but I was able to repair and you couldn't even see it. My mom got her top at Dillards, I thought it had a real vintage feel to it. She was the baroness who loved tiaras-...

    Roaring 20s Murder Mystery Dinner

Well, we had so much fun last year, we had a 2nd annual murder mystery last Saturday night. We had several of the same people attend, as well as a few new ones. Everyone looked great and it was a lot of fun! We have moved since last year, and now have a garage. My husband transformed it into a...

    Star-Struck: Hollywood Costumes & Designers, 1932 – 2006 exhibit in Dallas

Well, we went to this exhibit last weekend and it was fabulous! They wouldn't let us take pictures though :( But I am bored at work and thought I'd try to remember some of them and find pictures to post: Scarlett O'Hara's BBQ Dress- the hoops (or whatever made this dress so big) on this were...

Need Help with Dress - New at this!

If the area under your bust is the smaller area of your torso, then yes I think this would be cute and flattering. What is the material? You might need to get a size bigger so it doesn't get too clingy. But yes, I agree a slip and maybe Spanx or something to smooth it out. But the dress is...

    The Holiday Dress Dilemma

Do you have some pictures of your previous dresses? Then we could take a look and make some suggestions. I usually get a new one each year, but try to find something on sale for about $50.
