I was going through a book from the early 40's today and a piece of carbon paper fell out--even carbon paper was beautifully designed back then.
I love this clock too.
Wonderful pictures LaMedicine--thanks so much for the close-ups of the fabric!
You look like you could be your daughter's sister RHRH--I love your earrings especially.
Is that a vintage blouse SSB? I love the ribbons in your hair too.
Every so often I just have to see a Jeanette MacDonald/Nelson Eddy movie, so I watched Maytime (1937) last night. I don't think Jeanette ever looked prettier than in this one, and the clothes are to die for--Adrian outdid himself. John Barrymore always makes me sad though, he's so "gone" in...
I really got lucky with that hat in more ways than one. It was an ebay purchase and the seller had posted pictures that were pretty awful, so I didn't know what I was going to get. It was mentioned that the hat had a "decoration" but it wasn't shown. It was one of those purchases where the...

I'd bet my fruitcake it's Leila Hyams http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leila_Hyams
Happy Holidays Midnight Palace; I'd like her dress for Christmas, please!
Love Jo Stafford.
Thanks for the tip on Beirut, I'll check them out since I love DeVotchKa.
I'm doing some editing of a fantastic story for a friend and listening to Rubber Soul today.

I adore his boots--it may be a blessing in disguise that I have wide calves and I can't fit into them because I would be more broke than I am now if I could buy all the styles I love. Those Rosabelles are really sharp; I love the Countess Olivia too...
My big present to myself this year was going to the Queen Mary event but I did receive several wonderful presents from others. A bottle of white rose perfume, a bar of soap in great deco packaging, a book of reproduction art deco christmas postcards, a silver bracelet from a friend who went to...
