    The Fedora style

Whew, thank goodness. Most of you reflect my own view, I some times feel well out of my element reading The Observation Bar, and the lengths some folks there go. I appreciate vintage and older things, I like the sense of timelessness and the union of today to yesterday in common history. I've...

    How "giving" is this group

As some may know, I'm a moderator at another board, and I hate that I keep mentioning it. But I have a question for Loungers, and this isn't an indictment, or an accusation, I really want to know. The other site is a cigar site, by the by, and folks there are quite generous with their cigars...

    College Football!

It was a home and home agreement. I think it was scheduled more than once with VT backing out on the return game. Don't quote me on the dates, but I think in 2003 or 2004, maybe both. I know 2005 after Katrina, LSU had to schedule Appalachian State, a Division I-AA school in 2005. I think we...

Why do I hate the 1970s so much?

Not to take this TOO far :offtopic: it is my understanding from friends of mine from East Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan (guys on Cigar Weekly) that there were, into the 70s and 80s, 6:00 whistles in a lot of towns for the blacks to vacate town.   One in Michigan, iIrc said...

Same here. Two of the items in the bedroom are my step-FIL's mother's things she sold us. Some are my wife's aunt's things she gave us.

I daresay by the end of the season, the Hokies will have had enough of the remembrances and tributes and all. Anything that adds time to pre-game and half-time really throws an athlete off of his rhythm.

Why do I hate the 1970s so much?

I'm going by what I learned on local shows about New Orleans history. This is what occurred here. I don't know that we had overactive or any HOA's here, way back then. Must be racism in SoCal, I guess.

In Blacksburg, no doubt. I don't know about on the road.

Why do I hate the 1970s so much?

Someone a few pages back mentioned white-flight and the development of the suburbs. Part of the problem with that was the sheer number of men returning from the war in their mid 20s in 1945-48. They all wanted their own homes, they had GI Bill money to do it, as well. Here in New Orleans...

    College Football!

Tigers open the season on Thursday August 30th on national TV vs. the Bulldogs of Moo U. I'm really looking forward to this season, with so many of our big games in Tiger Stadium. Many Tiger fans, myself included, are eyeing the Tiger Stadium match-up with the Hokies of Frank Beamer. They...
