    WWII Reenacting Discussion Thread

my buddy does this and told me a funny story of an "after" battle. They had a big reinactment somewhere and all the guys.. Alied /axis went to this local watering hole after the battle. Well the locals didn't know quite what to expect as all these guys come in with wwii uniforms. US and...

Would you rather live then or now?

Interesting question Matt, You open many doors of thought on that one... Would we be interested in the modern fashion of 1930 or would we be drawn to the 1850's if we lived in the 1930's? Many of us have no skills to make a living in 1930. Only 2000. Would be able to afford 1930...

    Good buys on a B3?

alan, tell me about your b-3. Did you dye the shearling yourself? Is that horsehide? What about the back? Did you go early or late? What is the lenght the shearling too on the main body and sleeves? I've been thinking about doing just what you did. What machine did you use? What did...

    Red Plaid Winter Coat 50's

I think I know. Is it your standard red/black hunting coat? I just picked up a newer vintage Pendelton one in a nice large size about a 44 or 46. No matching cap though...

A thought why all the Great suits are Small

James: Good point but I think you forget one thing. Everybody owned a coat. But few owned suits. So it would be natural for you to find a coat easier than a suit. Now to the size. There were big people, but people also dressed in layers and although he might be a 40 in size, by the...

    Show us your suits

Televsion has no practical value either.. But I own two. Now what if by chance you were traveling say in a 1927 Ford, down say, a dirt road in northern Indiana and lets say you just happen to have four bags of cash from, I don't know... a recently robbed bank. And lets say two other fords...

    (Un)breaking in old shoes?

I'd try applying a lot of leather conditioner, really soak them, to relax them, then put in the trees. And try to dry them out then and re-break them in. It's a long shot but what.. you're out 5 bucks? Right now you can't wear them... But the thing about leather is once it's creased...

A thought why all the Great suits are Small

Here's just a thought of mine why it is that all the great suits we find are in a size 38. I'm a 44 long so I never find anything... Well one, people just didn't eat as well as we do today. This is seen today in many 3rd world countries and even Asia. Where the children of today are near...

Feedback on my getting this vintage style bag...

I was thinking of the one Aero use to sell for 300 pounds, but on a closer look that one looks a little different, esp. in the stitching. Ken's was an english bag from Tusting, which they still sell. http://www.tusting.co.uk/level4.asp?id1=2&id2=3&id3=3 of course the price from tusting is...

Feedback on my getting this vintage style bag...

I believe it's by Tusting. I have one of their briefcases and love it. 100 pounds is very good as I believe they usually run 300.

    first vintage jacket

Thanks Matt, I wasn't sure with the heavy weight of the wool I though I'd just go with the whitie-tightie look, but now I'll wear pants! Oddly enough they did have a pair of vintage highwaisted button fly pants there, but they were a 1950's pastel color with flecks and I didn't think...

    first vintage jacket

Got some pics of it now. Three button front, the label is missing though. Heavy shoulder pads and very heavy thick wool. And the best part is it fits a 44 long! Bad part... no pants.

    Vintage car observation.

One can not really compair the word antique to people as people die and are no longer there as an antique is still there and does die. So if you think 80 years old is antique... it doesn't apply to Grandma. Case in point: An Oil Lamp from 1875. That would be an antique...
