I thoroughly appreciate the theater - the big screen, the sound, the total experience. Some movies just have to be seen in the theater. Some, I'd love to see in the theater, but they're *old* now, so I can't. :)
But I also very much enjoy watching movies at home. I can put up my feet...
I was out and about yesterday, wearing one of those multi-gore trumpet skirts (very flared at the bottom and fitted at the top). There was a bit of wind, and it seemed like everywhere I went, that thing flew up! Coming down stairs, walking into stores - thank goodness for fitted linings! :eek...
Yes, you should research the company and figure out what designers they carry, and research them a little, too. Research is good. :)
I'd say it depends very much on the company. If you can get any inkling as to how the employees dress, make sure you dress at least a notch above that. I...
DimeADanceQueen: Pretty! Would it be possible to see the high heels up close? I like those prints with shoes, or hats, or dresses, or fashionable women strolling all along the length. :)
DressADay just put up a vintage photo from a book, showing the Walk-Away Dress. The book even...
I've never held a vintage party, but it sounds fun. Actually, what I've always wanted to do is hold a Greasy Spoon dinner party. The guests get menus with creatively (and deceptively) named items, and have to select what they want for dinner. (1 item for appetizer, 2-3 for the main course...
I checked my Big Lots, and they had the Moon Beam, and the 1949 round clock, but only in purple. I was aiming for something silver, so I didn't get either.
The Moon Beam was larger than I expected. Smaller than a breadbox, but larger than the dinky little alarm clocks I'm used to. It's a...
"The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us." - Ecclesiastes 1:9,10...
I have a clothes rack, but not a clothesline. Most of my clothing needs to dry flat or at least well-supported (no hanging stuff from the shoulders! Bad!). I use a metal one, because I found that the wooden racks left lovely little stains on my clothing.
Anything knit should either...
I wouldn't worry too much about pattern matching at this point, especially if it's a Hawaiian print. What I *would* do is make sure any large motifs aren't...*ahem*...strategically placed. Like two large flowers right over the bustline, etc. :) Otherwise I wouldn't stress over it.
As a...
This particular story has been floating around for a little while, but it's actually not true - exactly. e.l.f. sells most of their items for only $1, but it's just the regular price - they're not being bought by Nordstrom or anything like that. So, the coupon codes will probably not work...
How could you forget Rocky Road? That's definitely in my Top 5. (Or 10. Or 20. Hey, I like ice cream! :p )
I also love dropping a few scoops of ice cream into soda to make a float. You can use regular soda, or mix up juice and sparkling mineral water to make a healthier version.
If you're worried about fitting, I'd agree that the first pattern is better. You only have vertical princess seams to deal with, instead of that curved midriff band. And I love the pleats. :)
Shhh! Don't say anything, or they'll make Indy V just to prove you wrong!
I actually liked TOD. :o It wasn't as good as the others, and the mine car chase sure seemed like a Disneyland ride in the making, but it was campy adventure serial fun.
'Tis okay. I've had people studying fashion misidentify eras! Which always confuses me. It's even more interesting when you go back past 1920 (not on *me*, but just showing items). Most people don't have much knowledge of clothing pre-1920, which makes for some pretty interesting errors. :)...
Lillemor, have you tried Burt's Bees regular lip balm? It's natural, and I use it obsessively. I can't stand Vaseline on my lips, either.
If you keep with the Vaseline, maybe you could try getting a little makeup container with a snap-open top and put some it in there, to make it easier to...
