I, for one, am a little upset that there has been no definitive biography written about Barbara. I came across one book online that got really poor reviews. Apparently the author was more interested in trying to prove that Barbara was a bi-sexual rather than focusing on her incredible career. I...

Hi Everyone!
On July 16th, TCM will run 24 hours of Barbara Stanwyck movies in honor of her 100th birthday. Barbara is one of my favorite actresses. I know where I'll be! :)
Believe it or not, I first pronounced her name LAY-LA. :) Most people never pronounce her first name correctly when they read it lol
AWESOME scan!! Thanks!!! :)
The online radio show deals with Classic Hollywood. They agreed to help promote my Leila petition. The host kept mispronouncing her first name and asked for someone to call in and give him the correct pronunciation. So I called :) He wound up interviewing me about Leila. You can DL the mp3 of...

I love this film also! I have it as part of the "Film Noir Classics" set, it's a 10 disc set with mostly public domain titles. I've actually been surprised at how many people have NEVER heard of this one.
I'm giving away 3 copies of the Katherine Hepburn 100th Anniversary Collection! The set contains:

The song is "The Mooch" on that page. I know it was originally a 30s song I believe. Does anyone know the original artist?
I don't think London After Midnight is lost, TCM showed it a few months ago. Here is a photo for Alias Jimmy Valentine....
Come to think of it, there are other films of Leila's that I believe are lost:
Sandra (1924) - her first film, despite many sources that claim "Dancing Mothers" to be...
I'd like to see "Alias Jimmy Valentine" with Leila. It was her first talkie (silent-talkie hybrid). It is said to be lost, although from my understanding, one copy is in existence with a private collector in the UK.
I'm not sure if a better version exists on DVD. Frankly, I'm surprised that they don't include it as a bonus on the His Girl Friday DVD. But since His Girl Friday is in the public domain, the studio that eventually buys the rights will have the say as to whether they put out a restored version...
