After doing some research on hair care, I'm currently trying to move away from frequent washing and leave as long as possible between washes. Also hoping to get the hang of using more natural shampoos. :)
Thank you so much for the information and taking the time to make some suggestions! <3 I really appreciate it :) There's a walkthrough video on YouTube for the 1777, so I think that might be a good place to start. Thank you again!
Hello all,
After telling myself I'd do it for years, I finally taught myself some basic sewing skills! I was wondering if anybody could recommend some simple sewing patterns for 1940s day dresses or shirtwaist dresses? Any help would definitely be appreciated. Thank you :)
Ahhh! How exciting, I hope you love your Fiorella. Retro Folie corsets are so beautiful, didn't realise they will print any painting for you. Tempting indeed...
Hey Lady Betty, Corset Story corsets are fashion corsets - they wont alter your shape at all and you can't waist train with them. Orchard Corset make the cheapest off the rack corsets.
Hello, LadyBetty :)
It's possible you'll get reverse-muffin top from a waspie, but it depends on your torso length. It's best to check the corset's maximum height against your own measurements. Measure from your underbust (where your bra band sits) downwards, and you'll be able to see where...
Loving my Freddies shorts - they're getting lots of wear now England is warming up a little! Never did get into swing trousers, but might go for some Freddies jeans at some point in the future. :)
Hey Pineapple, I recently commissioned Fiorella Corsetry too! :D It will be my first custom, very excited about it and looking forward to seeing yours also. <3

How about a nice big leather satchel? The classic styles have a very vintage look, I think, and often you can customise them to suit your needs.
There are some beautiful pieces by The Leather Satchel Co., who I've had a good experience with in the past. But perhaps you can find somewhere...
Shoulder pads... I have broad shoulders and really don't need the extra padding lol But now that you mention it, I don't do gloves either. They're something that I just feel costume-y in whenever I try to wear them.
Hey cakesandcakes :)
Laces can be tucked in easily, either through the lacing panel or hidden underneath other areas of the corset, depending on how it fits you. More of a concern for a seamless look is the height of the corset. If the corset is too long for your torso, the busk may jut out at...
You say it's curly? Well, you're already half-way there :) I second fgradowski - try adding some victory rolls to the sides, maybe experiment with hair flowers. I'd also suggest having a browse through the Everyday Women of the Golden Era thread. Sometimes we can get a little distracted by...
