    Vintage-Inspired clothing lines

I was trying to get some info on a skirt at ModeMerr and have thus far emailed them thrice and have had no reply. I was wondering if any of the ladies have had any similar problems with them, or indeed sterling customer service. Thanks!

    The Golden Era's *ugliest* clothes

The "Grecian Beauties" ("Grecian Uglies" if you prefer) kind of remind me of the Gladiator/Jesus boot/shoe style that's darkened the shoe shelves for the past year or so. Are they shoe? Are they boot? They may not be fish, but they are most definitely foul.

    Cardigans, cardigans, cardigans!

Will do, but now I figure that I also need a late 20's/early '30's style skirt to go with this ensemble! Luckily I have a pattern in my stash I've been dying to make up...:)

    girls in guy's garb

Methinks the above could be categorised as a textbook example of what you've just said!

    Dita Von Teese

I did that just yesterday... But I only whacked a pair of tights onto the order to get it up to 30 quid - I'll always need tights, right? But 500 dollars???!!! Too rich for my blood!

    Dita Von Teese

But hey, they offer free international shipping for orders over $500 AUD! :) Love love love the cardi, but don't want to have to take out a mortgage for one!

I am so sure she's just done something naughty, with that huge grin on her face :)! What a gal she was - yowza!

    1930s hairstyles with long hair?

If memory serves in the 1st edition of Lauren Rennells Vintage Hairstyling there's a 'do which replicates a short 30's-style 'do with long hair. I've not seen the 2nd ed., so can't comment on that one. Long hair in the 30's always makes me think of the actress Ann Harding, who always seemed to...

    Cardigans, cardigans, cardigans!

Stunning ensemble! I have a vintage tie I've been dying to wear and I think that's how I'll go about it. Many thanks for this post!

    Show us your vintage patterns!

Me too! I've been muddling through my 3rd skirt from a vintage pattern and am "ironing out the kinks" as I go, as it were. Anyhow, I too am addicted to collecting patterns and trawling Ebay and Etsy (and vintage pattern websites :)) most of which are waaaaay beyond my skill level at the...

    The Miracle of Absinthe

Please forgive if this is a stupid question, but do they hold absinthe tastings like they so wine tastings? Cheers, Absinthe_1900 for the recommendation!

Whatever happened to "coat and tie required"?

Put perhaps, as a female, I'd prefer to see Paul or Mario in the alltogether plating up my dinner :)... Uh, no, not really. There's got to be better ways of leading blokes to the joy of cooking than that tired trick of employing the lowest common denominators (sex, violence, team sport...

    The Miracle of Absinthe

Many thanks - I'd prefer my first imbibing of the stuff to be a pleasant experience, and with a moniker like yours, I think I feel pretty comfortable with your judgment! :)

    The Miracle of Absinthe

Have any of you absinthe aficionados come across a French brand called Libertine? Besides regular absinthe in several percentages they also do a liqueur of chocolate absinthe. I've never ever had absinthe before but I'd really love to try it, and there's something about a combo of chocolate...

    Creating your living time capsule

I know some people who have an "idiot box" in both the kitchen and the living room, and aspire to have one in their bathroom, so they can watch it whilst bathing...Sheesh... Bravo, so well said. I do wonder what the present generation is going to be able to hand down to their children, as...

    Will do! :)

    Does anybody dance the Charleston?

I've just done a couple of workshops in it but I would love to do it more often, as it is one heck of a workout, to great music, and it's loads of fun! I do ballroom and sometimes you see some of the Charleston moves incorporated into Quickstep. Congratulations on your score (no pun intended)...
