I hate it because it doesn't give me any options to give to buyer for different shipping rates. It is the way it is and that is it. I can't offer cheaper, or faster shipping. I don't like it at all. In fact, I've stopped selling overseas because of it.
Here is one of the biggest piles of lies I have seen on an ebay hat description for a long time.
This guy claims he has a hat from the 1880s and it is clearly from the 1960s.

Roger,
"Three Way" is the model name. The sales pitch was that you can wear it three ways and it was fronted by the then famous actor Bob Benchley. I googled "Stetson Three Way" and you'll find an ad for the hat so that is how I figured it out.
It would seem to me that there are two different questions being thrown around in this thread and one would have to know which question is being asked to answer it.
1). What is a typical 1920s/30s hat?
and
2). What is a good hat for me?
As so many have noted, the typical 30s hat is a...
So, I've been looking at getting a vintage top hat, but now I am all kinds of confused.
Many of the ebay sellers are saying they have a "beaver top hat." Others are saying "silk." Still others are using the strange term "beaver silk."
I emailed one guy who called his hat "silk" and he showed...
I have to disagree with those saying that the shot of the liner we see a few pagers back on this thread isn't a Baron liner. It looks pretty clear to me that it most certainly is a baron liner. The gold piping around the crown and the gold logo looks just like the Baron hat liner.
So, I have a question for you derbie-o-philes. The really tall derbies you see in photos from the turn of the century... what are the dates these were manufactured? Did they make it into the 1900s? Anyone have any history on the really tall crowned derbies?
OK, so I saw a Hat Life Yearbook from 1951. It contained this manufacturing info...
(If you can think of what thread this should be merged with, editors, go ahead and do so.)
Hat Life Yearbook 1951
Men's Fur Hat Production

1927..... 1,212,062 dozens hats made in plant
1929-.... 799,867...
So, this guy says he has a 1920s Resistol. Looks more like 50s to me. Anyone have a better guess on dates on this?

My guess is the white tag with the numbers was put there by a hat shop where the hat was being cleaned. As to the liner, it looks like a regular late 50s/early 60s one that has faded and lost some of the ink printed on it.
It is always a good idea to be the first bidder and bid only the asked for first amount adding no more to it. That way it is a bit harder for the seller to cancel the auction and sell it to someone off line. However, I think it is foolish to ever bid again until the last 10 seconds of an...
