Thanks for the thoughts on black hats - it's interesting the difference that a few (well quite a few :) ) miles of water make.

A business trip to the coast. Stetson 'Swift':
Thanks Sam.
Thanks Andy - we have a much smaller Hasidic population than the US which may make a difference. I don't know what the percentage of black to other colour hats is over here, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't at least 70%.
Looking good Perry - muggy and showery here.
Andy - nice looking hat. I don't see many black hats on here - are they less popular in the States than on my side of the pond where black is the norm?
Sam - looks good. How much brim did you remove? I like the look of the squatter, but the brim width has always scared me.
Thanks (and thank you to others for the comments). I don't know - it's a fine natural straw barely 1mm wide woven into a ribbon about 1cm wide then sewn together.

David - Lovely Disney - great colour to the straw
Sam - Wonderful colour
Perry - Nice Lee
Robert & Manfred -...
Mike - nice ribbon on that panama.
g.d - No ribbon? :)
Robert - looks great.
David - definitely a few degrees off the normal photo angle :)
Sam - Looking good
If any of you folks sell internationally on ebay please don't use their Global Shipping Program (it's not mandatory and will just put off international bidders) - two hat's I was interested in over the weekend came with pre-paid import duties of over $100 on top of the seller's shipping fee...
First day of the year it's been warm enough for shorts (don't worry I won't inflict my legs on you! :D ).
Biltmore again (finally got round to ironing the brims of the others today):
Thanks for the comments on Saturday's fit.

AnA - thanks for the additional shots of the Champ - I can see why you love it.
Che - great caps and a fine looking panama. Nice photos too.
David - The Campdraft looks great, but that Worth & Worth...
UK manufacturers often used thinner sweats - but I've seen similar sweats on UK hats from both the 30's through to the late 50's so it doesn't really help. There's nothing about the hat that rules out 30's manufacture but short of finding out George Chadwick ceased trading in a particular year...
Very difficult to date - it could be anything from 1930's - 1950's. Is there a union stamp under the sweat band, and is there any sign of the original liner? It's not a hat company I've come across before.
Alan - hope the weather improves for you.
gd - bash looks good
Justin - nice shade of brown
Bowlerman - that's a statement ribbon - looks great
Daizawguy - Lovely panama - nice photo too
AnA - great looking hat - lovely colour
Tom - that hitch-hiker looks good - nice choice or ribbon against the...
