Won't be long and we won't even have brown shoes anymore. The only uniform that we can wear brown shoes with, other than our flight suits with brown boots, is our Khakis. Those are getting rare to see in the fleet these days. The Navy Working Uniform (NWU) has taken over. They are commonly...
I am not sure about that one. I'm Navy and was stationed with the Army guys for a year. I know about some of their uniform items, but not all. I do know that they hate the black berets.
They no longer have greens. The only dress uniform they have is their ASUs (Dress Blues). They wear their black rain coat with that. Other than that, they wear their Army Combat Uniform (ACU) everywhere. Even when they travel commercially, which as a Navy guy, I find very inappropriate since...
Thanks for posting this great info. I had to purchase my bridge coat, but I am an Officer Candidate School grad. From my understanding the Mids in NROTC are required to turn their bridge coats back in upon graduation. I have a friend that graduated from the Academy and he says that since they...
This guy seems to have a lot of legit patches http://www.av8rstuff.com/ He has even got some of my old Detachment patches from cruises I've done. Not sure where or how he gets them. I know that he is either active military or recently retired.
To answer your question Deacon, it's a Wings & Things nametag. I had heard too many stories about how guys had to wait several months for their nametags from Tipsy Gypsy. I have been contemplating putting on some more of my squadron patches. I kind of like the "clean" look of the jacket, but...
Love the G-1! Thanks for posting. Here is my "current issue" G-1. It was issued to me at that same warehouse in Pensacola in 2002 when I was going through API. I know a lot of purest put down the current issue jacket, but it has kept me warm in the cockpit when the Environmental Control...
I'm with Deacon on this one. It look likes a standard desert tan Nomex jacket. I've only seen Marines wear these. I am not sure about the fixed wing guys, but Navy helo guys don't get em.
I'm glad I am in the military. There are two options, Respectfully to someone junior in rank to you, or Very Respectfully to someone senior in rank to you. Some people do abbreviate them R and V/R.
I realize that they wore them cocked back in the day. However, this show has the characters wearing them almost sideways, like Napoleon's hat. So, I guess cocked was the wrong term. I should have said turned sideways. In an attempt to look cocked?
I’m a bit disappointed in how inaccurate the uniforms are. They do such a great job at telling the story, but the reenactments are awful. The episode I was watching tonight showed AAF with a USMC garrison cover on and it was cocked so far off to the side it was ridiculous, in fact most of the...
Yep, the Navy got rid of them. I know quite a few guys in the squadrons I have been in that own them and were upset that they are no longer “legal” to wear. There was a big push to get them reinstated, but with all the uniform issues the Navy has been having of late, it kind of petered out.
