Thanks, gents, thanks very much! One of these days I'll update my camera, but the 1957 model was just unbeatable back in the day, and I can't bear to part with it! I think my boy dropped on the floor one too many times; the screen no longer works, so I have no idea how to reset the...
A little bit different...
Ran across this in my archives... Meet Senior Master Sergeant Brian Davis, USAF Civil Engineering Carpenter! He was quite a character, to say the leastlol ... This was taken while I was TDY to Honduras this summer. In typical over-done CE fashion, he made a...
Fantastic story, Senior! It's hearing things like this that make me want to hop-to and motor down to Cincinatti JUST to see his shop and shake his hand. Hope you hear something back from the Mayor sometime.

Beautiful lid, Douglas! Can't decide if that falls into the homburg or the topper category... it has a much taller crown than one usually sees on a homburg, even though the center dent gives it away.

I finally finished (after a few days of evolution) my very first 'home-made' bash job on the Federation Deluxe I've been bragging up all over the place! I wanted the Indy/Raiders crown and front pinch, but wanted to simultaneously keep the snap brim of a regular fedora (though I did lessen the...

I didn't actually have it in my hands before it headed off to Optimo, but from the pictures I saw of it 'before', the Akubra stock sweat did appear a little narrower/shorter than this new one. Whatever, all I have to say is I love this hat! Hell, I'm wearing it right now as I type this, when I...
Here you go, Indycop!
Here's the detail on the ribbon and bow. Sorry it's not in the best focus, my camera's going the way of the dodo. The date is evidence to that effect, I would say.
This is the best photo I could come up with, shows the line where the reed was originally sewn on, and...
Thanks, JTL! The sweat is a generic leather one, chocolate brown, appears to be backed with a synthetic felt/foam of some sort, but very thin. It affords a decent amount of cushioning, and is stitched in very well. The original sweat sat further below the brim, Graham moved up into the crown...
My newest addition to the collection
Just received my new-to-me Fed Deluxe from Germany via Optimo today!!! I had Graham do a reblock, and he also replaced the ribbon and sweatband. Came out looking pretty sweet, and fits great!
This is going to have to be my last hat until my AB...
Congrats, scotrace! Sounds like my 8X Stetson find ($5 at the Rapid City antiques mall). Yours is probably in a bit better condition than mine though; posting and pictures?
Regards, Andy
Finally, a new hat on it's way...
Got word from Graham at Optimo that my Fed Deluxe is finished and on it's to South Dakota! Should be here by Wednesday, or Friday at the latest. I will post pics when it gets here... thank God I'm going to have it on my trip home to Maine for the holidays...
Edward (or anybody else who knows),
Where did you see the trailer for IJ4? I went to Beowulf with the wife expecting to see it, and it wasn't there, nor has it popped up on IMDB or anywhere else that I've found.
Personally, I think the costume looks pretty good. Let's think about this...
