easy, just wear it all summer, do some yard work with it on, get it dirty, take a dip in the pool with it on, wear it dry, repeat.

    Cowboy hats - opinions?

as for expense...(someone mentioned way back in this thread about not being willing to spend $1k on a hat) ... everyone here knows the value of good fur when it comes to hats. I have an uncle & aunt who flew to Santa Fe to have some hats made for them at the O'Farrell shop. He said he wrote a...

    Cowboy hats - opinions?

I find little use for a 'cowboy' hat with the brim folded up on the sides. And would agree that particular styling is more costume than utilitarian. But a wide, flat brim goes a long way in keeping the sun out of your eyes, off your neck, as well as keeping the rain from going down your back...

    How Was Your Day?

It's been raining here for the past 4 days. I spread fertilizer/weed killer over 3 acres nine days ago, then the next day the weather turned to a light drizzle, which was perfect for getting it into the soil. After a few days of on and off drizzle, the rain came. We live on lake front...

    The Other Open Roads.....

I live fairly close to the Hatco factory store...it's a 30 min drive from me. On any given day they'll have a dozen or more Open Roads on the rack in various sizes & colors. At the store they sell for $79 for a 4x. 6X is a bit more but still about half of most on line vendor prices. The...

    Akubra Overload

I have several Akubras. My work hat is a Territory (with leather wind strap). My oldest is a 70's era Drover...what a great hat. I also have a Snowy River, a Bluegrass color Campdraft, and a Fed IV. Akubra makes a good, solid hat. The Territory is a real workhorse of a hat.

    Indiana Jones V

They need to kill off Indiana Jones, just like they did Han Solo. Have him fall off an old rope bridge spanning a deep gorge. Then pass the hat to a younger actor to continue whatever story is left to tell.
