    I know that this is a Suit thread, but looking at the shoes Charlie wears surprised me. I did not realize that button boots were that common in the 1920's, though in the one photo he is the only one wearing them, the rest have lace ups, is this just a tweek to his style ?

    That really looks like a great deal of fun for thoses pups there, good idea. Again, thanks for all of your kind words, not any easy decision, but it is part of the process of living with Dogs in the Family. It is not the first time we have been through this, it is still very painful though.

    That happened to one of my Dad's cars as well, an Oldsmobile I think, I was introduced to a number of new words that he instructed me to not repeat around my Mom. I think though this was a rather common failure mode on water pumps back then. Wrecked the radiator most of the time as well.

    Right about that, do not throw the drippings away, my Mom used to have a little pot in the kitchen to save the drippings in to later use them as seasonings for things like green beans.
