I got this one a few years ago and it is near mint (sans hood draw string). I am wondering what year it may have been made. Even the mouton fur inside the hood is all intact. The knits have no moth nips either. I have always wondered how to date these [huh] Thanks -Ronbo
Agreed. Back then they were just a bit o' kit. My Grandfather was at Lakenheath and Upper Heyford with the Army Air Corps at this time (ground crew & later EOD) and had the chance to snag a B-3. He said after about a month he went back to his D-1 because it was too damned heavy lol.
Hi All - Just found the War scenes from the film The War Lover. Plenty of GREAT B-3 and A-2 shots. As well as some INCREDIBLE low level B-17 flying. And our hero Buzz is played by none other than Steve McQueen himself. LOVE these old films with NO computerized bull$hit. Moderator if this is not...
That's a GREAT shot too !! Here's a link I may have posted of vintage flight jackets "in wear" at the time . At the bottom you can search out individual jackets by type AND aircraft as well. Great Site IMHO Enjoy -Ron http://jetpilotoverseas.wordpress.com/category/b-15c/
MAN! Aero sure captures the "stories to be told" look of the real jacket!! I have a seal Aero B-3 two piece back Contract # 40-1721P and I just HOPE it looks like that one fine day. Cheers -Ronbo
Definitely worth a go. I called HPA again about 6 months ago and asked a gentleman there and he said he hasn't seen a Buzz in size 48 in a long time. I'd LOVE to find an L2-A Buzz in 48. Ever since seeing the film Strategic Air Command I have wanted one. I was also lucky enough to score one of...
I can't stand the look of a shirt creeping out under a jacket so I always tuck and I never wear sweaters that just hang either. Unless they're Cardigans for indoor use only.
I just picked up a really nice pre-owned (like new) Aero Leather (2 panel back early design) B-3 for $700 and I swear by them. It reminds me of the Real McCoy I once owned but sold (stupid stupid). Eastman are also excellent but a bit more pricey. I am a stickler for originality so I wouldn't...
Just to add I also have a BEAUTIFUL Eastman "Redskin" version B-3 and an Aero B-3 (dark brown/ two panel back) and this B-15C keeps me just as warm as either of those. Kindly -Ronbo
Hi Gents - Here's the pics as asked for in the L2-A thread of my Buzz Rickson B-15C in size 48. Circa 2006 I called HPA and said do you have ANY Buzz Rickson jackets in size 48 (on bended knee). The Very Kind Lady there said they had a B-15C blue version in 48. I tried to contain myself as that...
Hi Gents. I am honored you want photos so out of respect for this gentleman's thread (AND fine L2-A :) ) I will not hi-jack his post any further and start a new post with the pics of my Buzz B-15 in size 48. Please check the new posts in a couple mikes it will be there - promise :) ! Cheers -Ronbo
Thanks. The lady at HPA told me I "made her day" when I bought it lol. I think it might have been a special order that never got picked up. Cheers -Ron
Bravo!! That's a BEAUTY!! I was lucky to find a Buzz B-15C (Blue) from HPA in a size 48 a few years back and it is THE best Jacket I have ever owned!! That material is tough as nails. Congrats -Ronbo
I know what you mean. My Grandfather started in the Army Air Corps in '42 and retired out of the USAF in '68. I lived with him at Castle AFB and I could tell you practically every plane in AF service, by sight, by the time I was 12. This was a time of War (cold and otherwise). But I have to tell...
