I guess I've always called it Roots Blues, but it's the same thing basically. Some of my favorites are Mance Lipscomb, Buddy Woods, Memphis Minnie and Jaybird Coleman.
I wish. I do have this Bruce Timm obsession, but a lot of Darwyn Cooke, Dave Johnson, Jaime Hernandez (and even a little Seth) like to sneak in there too. But even those guys are all heavily influenced by Jack Kirby, Milton Caniff and Dan Decarlo. It just goes around and around.
Not that I was going to show any, but does the nudity rule only apply to photos of actual people, or does it apply to any type of art or illustration? What if it's the statue of Venus, and Art Deco lamp or Matisse's Blue Nude. Are we taking a Dallas School Board approach here of zero tolerance...
Thanks BigSleep. Your paintings are great! It's funny 'cause just this morning I sent the link to your site to my buddies in the Austin Sketch Squad to check out. Top notch stuff!
Very Steampunk Watch
Romain Jerome Titanic DNA Watch. Romain Jerome, a Swiss watchmaker has created a new timepiece called the Titanic DNA which uses parts of the actual ship in its construction. The watchface has a black dial thanks to a lacquer paint made with coal recovered from the wreck...
You would think it's a Disney movie, but it's actually MGM I think (my daughter likes this movie so we seem to watch it a couple of times a year).
And I was curious, how was Brad Pitts accent in Switch? I remember reading that he was concerned about being as authentic as possible.
What's weird is that in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang he doesn't use an "English" accent. I always assumed it was because he hacked it up so badly in Mary Poppins they wouldn't let him try it again. ;)

Amy Winehouse has been ordered to cancel her scheduled US tour, which was due to begin next month, because medical professionals have advised her to.
The troubled singer had cancelled a number...
There used to be this really awesome vintage western store on South Congress too, I spent many a Peso there my friends. I've tried many times to just find out if it moved or something, with no luck. :(
I hate gentrification.
Hog wild is good, but most of the vintage in South Congress has been replaced by "Trendy" shops.
The vintage in Austin is kind of spread out too.
If you can wait until you get there, the first vintage store you walk into should have a little, folded brochure at the door by all the club flyers...
Sometimes you can find a venue in reverse by first getting a list of the bands, go to thier websites tour section, and see what the places are that host them. I've done that when visiting a city I've never been to and wanted to check out "my kind" of places. ;)
