I was just throwing that out there. The lapels on the suit above look like they could use another inch or so and releasing the top button woud do that if it were a 3 roll 2.
In any event, I too like the cloth. So it's got that goin for it.....:)
How about those thick clear plastic furniture covers you'd see in the 60s -70s. Didn't everybody have a relative with a living room full of that stuff.
I came upon a very nicely priced ($199) RL navy blue linen blazer with patch pockets and belt back at the local discount chain store. It had one major flaw: On the breast pocket was an embroidered crest of ficticious origin with removal impossible. Darn.
And we were told in school here that the dictionary made the crossing but the very first thing they did upon landing was to rewrite the darned thing so that it made some sense. :)
It should be noted that AE and Alden never occupied the top rung of US makers back in the day, as they do now. It's not like their quality has slipped; they make them today just like they always have. It's brands like J&M and Florshiem that have slipped from the top rung to the bottom.
Funny you mention BB and AE; Starting this season BB will be selling branded AE (as well as Edward Green) on their web site and in selected stores. I'm waiting to see if they discount the EG's like they do their Peals at their end of season sale. :)
The reason the EG's feel like slippers is because of the quality of leather used on the uppers. Their 'country' line with thick sturdy soles are every bit as slipperlike. And the suppleness of the uppers does not make them fragile in any way so they needn't be babied. Just a result of high...
