Nice jacket indeed, but you get mega-extra-bonus points with me for the most excellent truck. I have a '71 F-100, my first vehicle, and I've hung onto it all these years. Yours looks to be in much better shape. I would love to see photos of it in one of the vehicle threads if you are ever so...
Not to worry, Rick, I think most folks on this board know that good things take time. I trust you to take your time to turn out a great hat. But if you ever reconsider bribery, I will make the check out to the "Humanshoes Hats for Humanity Mobile Hat Shop Fund" if it makes you feel better! :D
I like that color combination better every time I see it! Rick is working on a granite for me too, and the ribbon I sent him is a similar tone but not as bright. Thanks for taking the time to post - it makes me want to call Rick up and and offer him a bribe to move me up in the queue! :D
Thanks for taking the time to share, Ryan, especially with all of the challenges you have faced lately; very sorry to hear about those.
That is one sharp hat! I really like the brim shape. The outdoor pictures make it look almost charcoal-colored; would you say they are more accurate or the...
I really like that hat, both the colors and the shape/dimensions. I recall you talking about it on the Phoenix thread a month or so back before you received it, but have you ever posted any other pictures of it? I have a granite on order with Rick and would like to see more if you're willing to...
You've figured out what you like to wear, and you wear it - simple as that. And that's how it should be done. As far as the casual/formal argument, someone already pointed out that the older generation would wear bib overalls and fedoras. It was a common thing when I was growing up to wear newer...
Perfectly stated, and as it should be. If we were "keeping up with fashion" would we be wearing fedoras? I wear what I like - the things that make me comfortable. I don't consciously dress to make a statement, but what I wear does reflect who I am, where I grew up, and the work that I have done...
I guess that's true to a point. There is one subspecies of hippo (pygmy, maybe?) that is protected or endangered, but unless things have changed recently the common hippo that I think about as boot leather is not. They are still being legally hunted, at least in some places.
And just like that...
Good grief! I wonder if he would have put it in a box if he charged the $35-50 most Ebay sellers want to charge to ship hats these days? Then if you question the expense, they get defensive or downright rude...
I'm not sure how Red Wing is marketing the engineer boots, since they appear to be targeted to the European market. But in "real life", as you say, the 2218 is in fact a work boot and is sold as such. The target market cares whether the boot is durable and solid, not that the contour is a little...
Every American armed force has been, to some extent, a cross-section of our country's population. But from the threads that were added here this week, it seems this thread was drug out of 2006 (the last post prior to this week) just so we could speak ill of dead-and-gone veterans. I find that in...
You certainly could be right about that; I will be the first to tell you I’ve never shaped a poly hat and so am just thinking out loud. I’ve been trying to decide between a hemp or poly hat for durable summer wear, but can’t find much in either material with a taller crown and a 3” or so brim.
